Homeschooling

Apparently, homeschooling is another thing that you cannot do in Rhode Island unless you are rich. It is also controlled by the school department, so hoping to get the girl schooled without their influence would be impossible, even if I could afford it. At $400 per class per semester, it is far too expensive. 
So that option is closed to us.
She is turning 15 next month. After that she would only have one more year before the school can send her packing if she cannot adjust. From their attitude Monday, they are unwilling to tolerate her and unwilling to make any exceptions for her or give her any slack or leeway. 
Despite the special needs of this special needs child, she will be left behind if she cannot find a way to adjust - and adjustment needs cooperation, something that has been lacking, in some ways, for a long time. Six years I have been working on this girl and trying to get her the help that she needs and the treatment that she needs - weeding out the so-called professionals that could not or would not help her.
It is not an easy thing to do in this environment - getting decent treatment for any medical condition - but especially so for mental illness. So many of the "practioners" that I have run into just do not know what they are doing and are actually harmful. The drugs are horrifying - nasty side effects and unbelievable withdrawals - and so few of them actually help!
You can spend your life and all your money plus some trying to get help and still not get it. It takes a lot of luck to find a therapist or psychiatrist that can actually help you, and even more luck to survive it.
