home at last

well, I just got out of the hospital today after a lovely 3 1/2 week stay. it was not fun, let me tell you that. i started out w/ the usual pain and puking of an acute attack, but got a special goody given to me as a bonus prize. my mediport was infected and needed to be removed. since i have abolutely no way possible for iv or even blood draw access, i am pretty much screwed! surgeon did try to put in a hickman cath on the opposite side of my chest, but my veins are too sclerosed, so I ended up with a central line in my groin. Fun times. so, the cherry on top of my sundae was when my insurance co decided i needed to go to a nursing home to finish the 15 day remainder of my course of iv antibiotics. i could have gone home and had a nurse from home health, but oh no. a central line in your groin is just too risky for such foolishness. i am 34 years old, mind you, and this was not something i relished. but for all of my complaining and anxiety attacks, it really wasen't that bad. i had a private room, which is more than i can say for the rotating roommates at the hospital. but all in all, i'm soooooooo glad to finally be home. can't sleep though.
