Holy Cow! old age is getting the best of me....

Whoa!!! i have dreamt of building a home for years. now we are building a room addition....thank god it is only a room addition and not a house. room addition is more than enough! it is at times feeling like it will be the end of us....
who knew pouring a yard of concrete with a wheelbarrow could be so hard! thank god the truck was able to reach the rest!
who knew trying to lift up a 4x8 sheet of 3/4 inch plywood would be so hard in the wind! thank god there was only 12 pieces!
who knew trying to break out a chunk of conrete 16 inches thick by 2 feet long by 8 inches high could be so hard! thank god i had a hammer drill!
who knew that at the age of 60 i thought i could work like i was still 50! thank god i'm retired!
who knew that beer thirty came earlier some days than others! THANK GOD!

Barney I am not on your friends list but I hope you don\'t mind my comment.. My son builds fences and decks and bag after bag of concrete.. OMG I went out the other day to the work site and couldn\'t even move the bag from one side of the truck to the other.. .. :) Hope your addition comes out well.. We plan to tackle the same soon..........

Years ago, my dad ( born 1916) told me a story about how he got a job busting up concrete. One of the adults called him over and ask him if he wanted to make some money? Of course he said yes. He told him to go see John down the street and make a deal with him to remove is concrete pad, then come back and he would tell him how to do it. John could not get anyone to take the job on. So when my dad came back , Earl told him to dig a hole under the edge of the slab. and put a jack in the hole and put a little pressure on the slab. Then take a sledge hammer and hit it. It broke in pieces that could be handle. Later in my life ( I am a female) i needed to remove some side walk and a milk house cooler. My husband was at work and when he came home he asked me who removed it. Now I had a loader to help to remove the concrete pieces, but other than that it was easy going. I am glad that I paid attention to my dad\'s life time stories. My husband could not believe, I got the job done. Glad I was paying attention when my dad was telling one of his memories,
