Holidays blues......

I was raised to enjoy the holidays as in spending time with family, special foods that we have for holidays, giving thanks to all we have even though we all have struggled.
I find myself hating the holidays anymore. My bf spends so much time and money trying to please his children that its impossible to find gifts that his children will appreciate. And the stress he brings on himself doing this for them is weighing on our relationship.
I don't understand this kind of behavior. Specially since he is not financially stable to spend such on them.
Don't get me wrong, because we aren't married he has no responsibility to me as in the money he spends, and honestly even if we were I wouldn't say anything because they are his children and he has always made them feel as though they should expect 5, 6 hundred dollars worth of gifts during Christmas.
We share the household bills 50/50 and for the most part pay for our own children's needs.
I guess this is just another example as to "how we parent different"......
I just want to enjoy the holiday season again......I am not the kind of women who worries about such materialistic items.
