Holiday Fear
Going thru a divorce during the holidays (thanks stbx wife) and petrified. What will those days look like? What do I do when the kids (teenagers) are with their mom? I don't want to sit around self-medicating but the fear, dread and anxiety have got a hold of me. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Fear dread & anxiety over what?
You should be more worried about what teenagers get up to when a parent isn't around lol
Seriously,
I don't think you should be on your own.. so can you stay with family or a trip with someone?
The teens will be fine
I too think the same thoughts. Looks like I will be with the kids this year. (8 and 10) I'm in a different situation because my separated wife is just dumb. If my kids were to be away from me for an extended period of time, I would be very sad. Its amazing how the spouse who initiates the separation does not feel the same level of sadness as the other spouse. I wanted to travel as a family, and now what? Go only with the kids somewhere? Maybe go to Disney as a broken family? That would suck. Are we as abandoned spouses supposed to travel alone? That's weird and not too much fun. I'd feel like a loser. Traveling alone on business is one thing, but a solo vacation would be strange. You can only watch so many movies at home. It offers a 2 hour distraction, but then back to the lonely reality as soon as its over. Joining a gym might be an option. One with a sauna/hot tub/steam room. Maybe a pool. If your ok to do so, maybe start jogging. I can't on account of my knee. A hobby is a good idea. Maybe one that can lead to other external opportunities? Who knows? There is are lots of options, but most probably are not appealing under the circumstances.
Your story just really effects me. You have no idea.
Know that this period of time will pass. You will have a new normal again.
Love the above suggestions. xo
If you've never tried archery and a club is in range - it's brilliant after you get the hang of it.
You don't need anyone except maybe an instructor and you have to concentrate/focus, which helps you - there are lots of lovely people and all have different stories, but it's nice to belong and of course you start anew. U might even meet a special person - Good luck
