Hoarders.... on TLC/ youtube
REally weird but I've been watching hoarders on youtube. For some reason in all of it's ridiculousness, it seems like a huge motivator to me to get busy and get things out of my house that no longer serve me.
I had Anna go thru my shelves today. Books books books. And why? They are already read. So why keep them? I am giving most of them away. I do have a Titanic book that I want to keep. It's cool.
I was looking... some of my things are memory books... clippings and things from high school. I was thinking that i could maybe take pics of them and put them in my internet picture album. .. and then toss them. No one is going to want them. I don't look at them.
I will keep my great grandfathers bible story book and some things like that... but a lot of things are GOING. WE have more pics of my SIL family than i want. They are everywhere. omg. I could never get another one and I would be just find. Ick.
All of those need to go in albums. I stopped printing pics a long time ago and started an online album with walgreens.com It has saved a lot of money and room. The office has several purposes... my classroom, my sewing room , hubbies hobbies and his back thing... and it is not a guest room. So why fix it up cute? I need the shelving for material and for classroom and for his stuff. That's it. It needs to be organized to be what it is. I tried to fix it up... but that isn't working. I need to just take down the curtains and let it be my creative area but organized. Anna will help me. I can buy some organization things to organize... I already have it for the classroom and some for material and stuff.
But the cutesy stuff has to go .... OUT... no reason to have it in there.
So, Im feeling good about redefining that room. A big pile went to GW. Yay.
Now I'm watching hoarders ... for some reason it helps me put things into perspective. If it is not serving me to be who I am today, then I need to toss it, repurpose it, donate it, or give it away.
Yay.

What I am learning from Hoarders:
1. Things are used to fill a void... ask myself about the void bc it is REALLY within ME somewhere.
2. Hoarders / ppl give "things" a lot of power ... over themselves
3. The more clutter... the more anxiety in day to day life
4.Buying more and more is a temporary "fix" and the fix does go away... it's an addiction.
5. Shopping has to be done with though... with purpose and not seeking a fix. This might be hard for me at times.... I like to thrift shop.
6. Some ppl prefer THINGS over ppl... bc they feel SAFER with things . They do not feel SAFE with ppl. I find that interesting.
7.PPL use their STUFF to control other ppl.
8. Set limits. I can have stuff... but set limits...
9. BOUNDARIES with THINGS are very necessary bc our society is so saturated with STUFF
10. STUFF comes between ppl... it builds walls.
Hoarders makes me wan to throw stuff away too, would never want my house to look like that but I have trouble getting rid of books, I always think I'm going to read them again if I ever can't get more, lol
