His Friend

On Sept. 19th I had to put our dog Sam down.  Clyde, my wonderful deceased husband (it is still hard to say that) and Sam were great, great friends.  Three months after my husbands death I had to put our dog down.  The next week was one of the hardest.  Such a roller coaster of emotions and tears.
On Oct. 3rd, Sunday always a very hard day for me, I was so lonely I got on the computer and found myself on the local Humane Society site.  I now have a friend.  A 3 year old Chihuahua.  I named him Joey.  He is bringing me purpose and companionship.  I think this was a good decision.
I am very bothered by the holidays that are coming.  I just can't envision how I will get through them without my husband.  Clyde loved Thanksgiving and Christmas so much.  His joy was so infecting for the whole family.
I am trying to find groups to join to begin the process of my life without Clyde.  I am going to a bereavement group which I have found helpful.  Church helps, but honestly I don't feel comfortable going without my husband.
And so it goes . . .
