Hipster Cities in USA//many things are better OUTSIDE of USA
Williamsburg, Brooklyn, as the epicenter of the American hipster, it's hardly the only place in the country where vegan, handlebar-mustachioed trustafarians ride their single-speeds to nanobreweries inside organic farm-to-table restaurants inside abandoned artist lofts tricked out with rooftop gardens where they grow only kale.
Austin, Texas is EXACTLY like this except BIGGER. or is Austin, Texas actually Williamsburg, Brooklyn in some weird time warp? lol.

Other countries do a LOT of things better than here
Coffee is 10 times tastier in other countries. Luckily, more cities across the U.S. are catching on to what good coffee tastes like, so you don’t have to travel too far for a good cup.

American credit cards are downright medievalI never expected to feel embarrassed when swiping my credit card, but it turns out that American banks are waaay behind the times when it comes to paying for stuff. In fact, some foreign cities have gone as far as to BAN our classic signature receipts altogether, entering a brave new world where customers simply tap their credit cards and walk out.
Meanwhile, I’m relegated to “taking it old school” if I ever dare use my American card.

American public transit sucksAs a proud Chicagoan, I used to boast about the city’s “L” train. Looking back on all the times I credulously waited on a platform with no indication of when or which train was coming next, I’ve grown to realize just how behind we are in transit. Places like Hong Kong and Japan put the rest of the world to shame, and it’s baffling to comprehend why the rest of the world hasn’t caught on. Miss your train? Don’t sweat it, the next train is coming ONE MINUTE LATER. Only NYC and San Diego have this in USA and its only at certain times of the day.
Halloween is an American holiday, though in England they have a dress up like your favorite book character in March Halloween is strictly an American creation that continues to haunt expats abroad, although I did once attend a Halloween party themed, “Dress like a slutty American.” So yeah, while there are plenty of foreign fetes that hinge on themed dressing (hen parties, anyone?), I’m not sure there’s another country where the people dedicate such an inordinate amount of time or money to planning costumes.
Also, St. Patrick’s DayWhile St. Patrick’s Day may have its origins in Ireland, the sloppy traditions of mid-morning, green-beer guzzling are as American as the iPhone.
Airport security is like GitmoFact: there are airports in other countries where you can saunter through security without so much as an ID, let alone a full body scan, copy of your dental records, and requirement that you turn over your first-born child.
Travel in LESS STRICT countries is definitely the way to go for now, and put aside travel in USA until USA is "sane" again.
Red Solo cups are American - no one, no where does the red cup thing.

i wonder if the palatka project is going about it wrong...the developers always leave (for over ten years now) maybe they should become a hipster town? i never knew being extremely green was also hipster?
i thought hipster was a form of music and clothing
