hidradenitis suppurativa

I just joined this website seeking support. I am 15 and I have a nasty skin disease that makes me feel disgusting and makes me question if anyone would understand and if anyone would ever love me. I have horrid scars cuts and boils under my breasts. I've never had a guy touch my breasts Before, how would I explain to a teenage boy what I have. it looks like a nasty std, what if they reject me what if they think I'm awful and disgusting ?

Hey! I hope you're still around to read this answer. Don't lose hope! I've had bad HS on my lower region since I was a teenager. It always made me feel incredibly self conscious and horribly unattractive. I didn't think anyone would find it to be anything but hideous. I fell in love with and married a man 10+ years ago, and it has never been an issue for us. Is it still painful? Yes. Do I still struggle with my self confidence? Yes. But of one thing I am certain: my husband thinks I am super Sexy and especially loves my butt despite all the scars and lesions. I guess the moral of the story is that true love doesn't get hung up on the little details when the larger picture is so perfect. I hope you can find your perfect guy one day, too. <3

I used to think the same thing. I first noticed the sores when I was 11. They got worse as I got older. I was diagnosed when I was 12. I used to think guys would think I had a contagious disease and that I was gross. I wondered how I would explain the sores and pain. I'm now 25 and engaged to a wonderful man. We have been together for almost 7 years. When you find the right person, they won't care about the scars or the sores. My fiancé was very understanding when I first told him. It wasn't something I came out with right away. I wanted to trust him first. We were together for several months before I told him. He never thought I was gross and he did everything possible to help me when I had a bad flare up. I don't have it around my breasts but it is on my thighs and groin. Also under my arms. I do recommend using hibiclens daily in the shower. Rub it on the areas you have the boils. It helps prevent bad flares for me. It also heals them faster. Bio oil and vitamin e oil help the scaring. I know the condition is awful, but it does get better eventually!

hey girly. I'm 16 years old and I'm experiencing the SAME exact feelings you are. You're not alone. The scars and the cysts can you make you feel like you're a disgusting person.. it can literally eat away your confidence and nobody seems to understand, but I do.

Hey Darlings, I am 42 and I have had HS since I was 27. I have had 2 major surgeries where I've almost died from infection and I am what is considered Stage 4. I would get boils throughout high school but not like now. Recently, I tried Plexus Worldwide Detox system. It cleans your gut from the inside out (GI Tract). After 3 months of use one of my under arms has completely healed where I don't have to use bandages under it daily. My groin area that has hard, sore lumps is now draining and the burning pain has eased off about 75%. I started off with the Triplex and I'm telling everybody. And I quit smoking Black and Mild cigars (nicotine) cold-turkey, and I could tell the difference in the pain and smell going down that same week. Nicotine sucks with HS!!!

I was diagnosed with HS earlier this year. I have lost over 20 lbs and still experience flare ups. I joined this website to connect with people who are living with HS. I have moments when I'm self conscious because I'm not sure if I smell when I have an outbreak. I hope to meet new friends and share stories about this horrible skin disease, looking forward to connect with you!

Hello! I have had cyclical outbreaks of what I thought were ingrown hairs since my late teens. I usually popped and drained them on my own and they would dry up and go away (some scarring). This year I got a couple that wouldn’t go away. I was diagnosed with HS, underwent an unroofing surgery in the groin for one lesion that had tunneled. It took 42 days to heal by second intent. Right as this healed another started. My derm said leave it alone, gave me clindamycin gel. I knew that if I didn’t pop it it would tunnel. I went to urgent care and had it drained and began spraying hypochlorus acid on it . Two weeks later it’s gone. Hypochlorus acid can be purchased or made ( machine is 150 on amazon) . There are research papers out there about it’s healing properties, antibacterial, antifungal, and skin benefits. I know this terrible disease has no cure, but hypochorus acid has kept mine at bay. I hope dermatologists will someday get on board and help find a cure for this, until then...try this remedy along with 50 mg of zinc daily. Hang in there !! You are not alone.
