Hi I'm New here and I'm lost
I haven't a clue of what I am doing. This is the first time I have
(1. Ever done anything like this
(2. have tried to put how I feel about all this into real words.
My wonderful husband (who is wandering around this site somewhere) thought this would be a good idea for me. What he seemed to forget is that I am basically a shy person. I am o.k. one on one but in a roomful of people I will be the one in the corner. So I have decided to write this as if I am writing to a just one p.erson.
I'm 57 years old and Den and I have been married for almost 32 years ok only 31 1/2. We are very close and have been since day one. We have 3 son's all growed up with wifes and babies of their own. We have 8 wonderful grand children. The oldest being 19 years and the youngest steps in a 8years old.
Our lives have been full and happy. He loves his job and is very, very good at it and I keep busy with my sewing, quilting and various other crafts. Things have changed somewhat in the last 6 weeks or so. Oh, our lives are still full (fuller) and happy but vastly different since he was diagnosed with emphysema.
I really wish I could handle all of this as calmly as he does. But I can't (YET). I need to have a minimal amount to structure in my life. Since his diagnosis of Emphysema , I feel like we are on a fast moving rollercoaster going at a dead stop. It seems to be hurry up and wait or just wait and wait and wait. or just hurry hurry hurry. I say the Serenity Prayer a lot.
I do not like what this condition has done to Den. I'm watching him go from a workaholic always busy dude to working half days and napping most afternoons. I really do not like the fact that the Dr., who I adore ( He is really wonderful), says we can beat the statistical life expectency (after all science is not God )but Den will not take any meds and has thus far chosen not to see a lung Dr. This is his choice and I can live with that, however, how can we beat anything if no one is doing anything.
We have both quit smoking. He seems to be having an easier time of it than I. But we both are smoke free only 2 weeks but it's a start and at least it is doing something.
I guess this is probably enough rambling for the first time. We'll see if I have guts enough to do this again.
TTFN,
Elsie
