Herringbone Flooring Sydney & Campbelltown

The pattern creates an interesting appearance that makes the room appear large than it actually is. Herringbone flooring is a type of patterned wood flooring that has been used since the early 1900s in Australia. For an optimum outcome we recommend a full trowel spread adhesive bonded to a homogeneous, flat surface and dry surface such as plywood. Created by Italian craftsmen for the King of France, his royal highness, King Francois I,  Herringbone is renowned as one of the original parquetry patterns developed in Europe. In 1539, King Francois I, used this design on floors within the Chateau de Fontainebleau. The installation was done swiftly with attentions to details while there was still a lot of other work going on in the house.
It can stand on its traditional look and can be elevated to match the modern euro oak flair of today’s homes. Another advantage of Luxury Hybrid Blackbutt Hybrid Herringbone Flooring is its ease of maintenance. Unlike traditional hardwood flooring, it doesn’t require regular sanding and refinishing. Instead, it can be easily cleaned with a damp mop or vacuumed to keep it looking its best.

Whilst we provide estimates on delivery, often delivery is outside our control. We cannot be responsible if floors for any costs if floors are delayed in delivery or not acclimatised properly prior to installation. Borders or feature strips might be added for a cleaner finish or to frame the pattern. Scotia, trims or skirting boards are installed around the edges once the flooring is completed. Workers ensure that the subflooring, if usable, is cleaned, dry and level for the new flooring. One of the less common styles, it is used in heritage or luxury flooring designs.
No two planks are alike—ensuring a natural, non-repetitive flow that feels sophisticated, organic, and entirely bespoke. Consider the overall style and colour scheme of your room, as well as the amount of natural light the space receives. Lighter colours can make a room feel more spacious, while darker colours add warmth and sophistication.

We design all our Herringbone flooring blocks to be used as both floor boards and wall cladding panels. However you wish to incorporate a Havwoods Herringbone block into your design, our products will meet the specifications for your project. Our staff is here to help you design the look you want and our team of installers will add the finishing touches to your flooring vision. The herringbone design dates back to the Roman Empire, where it was used in road construction and masonry for strength and durability.
The two planks are laid side by side before turning, creating a bolder version of the standard herringbone pattern. The double herringbone provides a more contemporary and graphic feel, this is best used in a larger space to let the pattern flourish. An important thing to remember is that not all flooring products are suitable for herringbone layouts. The planks must be the correct sizes and also use the correct locking system. Herringbone installations require a professional installer as they are more complex than straight laying. Thicker hardwood floor planks can be resurfaced and refinished more times compared to thinner planks, allowing your flooring to keep its original appearance for as long as possible.

Patrick was very helpful all the way through the process, from answering all our questions about the boards, providing all the info to help with strata approval and follow up after the install. The installers did a great job and finished the job well inside the time allotted. Just like a solid timber floor, Aspire Floors’ engineered solution is completely made of wood. The difference is in the design and manufacture where the exposed wood layer is reinforced with several layers of underlying cross-grain wooden sheets.
At Aspire Floors, we provide a one-stop solution, using our only the most highly skilled installers and following through with excellent after-sales service. The smooth, lacquered finish is not only visually appealing but also incredibly easy to maintain, allowing you to focus on the beauty of your floor rather than worrying about upkeep. This high-quality Hybrid Herringbone Flooring is designed to provide the perfect combination of style and functionality.
While tongue and groove is still very install-friendly, it relies on adhesive to keep the pattern secure and locked in place long-term — especially in a herringbone layout where stability matters. Glue-down also helps reduce the chance of boards separating if the subfloor isn’t perfectly flat or if installation isn’t spot-on. Yes, herringbone flooring can be installed over concrete slabs or existing floors, that is if the subfloor is clean, dry, and level. Professional installers will usually recommend glue down installation for best results, particularly with herringbone patterns.
