Here in the Sunny South

This is the year I asked for but evidently someone didn't listen to directions.  i said good deep snow, gone in two days.  Oh well, I am fortunate to get it partially right.  Others around did not ask for snow and must go out into the cold.  My daughter in law is being held hostage by the hospital she works for and is mandated to sleep in town for the last two nights.  She has a hospital room now but first night was at a hotel.  I know they need the help but should have to pay for the rooms.  Again, I am out voted by the "If you want to keep your job rule."
Sometimes I relish the changes that have been made in the past sixty plus years of my life.  I have lived thru times of no electricity, no phone, no indoor bathrooms, etc.  and I know what it is to work in a cotton patch.  I also lived in a time when generous motors paid good benefits and good pay to men who worked in shops with dirty air and unsafe conditions.  If overtime was mandated it was time and a half or double time.  It was all part of the deal my husband made and kept probably to the detriment of his health.  Well, his health failed and the promises were slowly and steadily broken by GM.  I guess some of them were not so slowly broken but nevertheless broken.  How can it be legal to promise benefits and not deliver?
