Here I go, again

OK, I have run this distance 7 times before, but this will be the first time since Melissa passed away.  She was my biggest supporter, and did lots of things that really helped me out.  Now, I'm trying to rehearse for an upcoming play, and run a household by myself as I perform my training.  It makes for some very tight schedules, and is definitely more difficult.  On top of that, I have been dealing with an injured heel for the past year.  So far, the heel has held up, and I am optimistic that I will be able to do this.
So... I am doing this, with an occasional ice pack on my heel, a bottle of ibuprofen in one hand, a beer in the other, and a song in my heart! (ha ha)

Tim,
good for you! My husband was a runner and when he died was training for NYC Marathon. His brother and SIL came in from MIchigan and ran it in memory of him. I had my husband\'s favorite NYC Marathon (he has a bunch) T-Shirt cremated with him. Runners, in my house, are special, special people. With Jim it was always his knee that got iced! I would meet him at the door with the ice pack and a bottle of cold water. We\'d sit and chat during the fifteen minute cool down.. ah.. memories.
As he said all his life to runners, \"On, On\"

Thanks for the support! Yes Linda, runners are kind of \"special.\" A lot of people think we are off our rockers! It sounds like you and Jim were able to share some good times because of his running, and that you were an essential part of his support system.

Yes, I believe that optimism, hope, and joy ARE contagious! Just be open to it, but don\'t try to force anything either. The half marathon is 7 weeks from today, but I have a feeling it will be here before I know it.
