You acknowledge the train and let it go. You meditate sitting or lying in a comfortable position. You breathe slowly in and out. You close your eyes or keep them open and fixed on an object, such as a candle. You can use a mantra, which is a word or phrase that comforts you, or you can focus on the breath without a mantra. If a distraction such as a train comes through, you label it \"train\" or \"sound\" and get back to the breath. Same with any other distraction. Label it \"thought\" \"sound\" \"movement\" or whatever and go back to what you were doing. It takes a lot of practice, but it is worth learning to meditate. It is good to know that there is always a silent place of calm inside you that you can choose to go to.
