Helping family in times of need!
Lately my mother n law has been having a hard time walking. Both her legs are in great pain! Dr. wants her to stay off her feet as much as possible! She was ignoring the pain till it got too bad to endure everything she needed to do! So now I go to nursing home a few times a week to get her mother's laundry and see if she needs anything from store that they don't have there. And also to chat with her for a while. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to lie to her about somethings that she would get upset about! Like the fact that her son is smoking in her house! She still thinks she is going home one day! And I have to avoid that subject cause I really don't know what to say to her! So I smile and just agree with her! She just doesn't understand that her daughter is 71 years old even when I ask her if she realizes how old her daughter is! She says yes and tells me her daughters age is 71 now! But she just thinks the way she always has. That she is old and no one else has gotten too old to wait on her! And that's not the only problem! My father n law has diabetes and can't see much and can hardly walk anymore! And my Grandmother n law knows this and thinks everyone is faking their ailments just to keep from doing things for her! I can't get mad at her. She was a big help to me when I was much younger and raising my children! And my mother n law keeps trying to pay me for helping family! I just can't take money for caring for family! If I couldn't afford the gas I would let her repay that, but of course that's not the case. The prices went way down and we are doing good right now! I think everybody should feel the same way! But still having to convince my mother n law! She has now decided she has to take me out to eat! And that might be nice but my father n law will want to go and he needs lots of help in and out of car and he eats and talks with his mouth full ALL the time! I wouldn't mind if it wasn't all the time but that's how he has always eaten and it has gotten worse! Food comes flying out of his mouth and on you or your food and drink! Now if we go to the Olive Garden, they have some big round tables that might give the rest of us some safety zone! LOL! OK, enough of that! Hope all my friends here are doing well!

I didn\'t have the heart to lie to her about the phone today! I am trying to charge it up and will bring it to her tomorrow! My mother n law will just have to decide when to answer her phone or not! That\'s if my grandmother n law figures out how to use the phone! : )
Brought her cell all charged up! She insisted I show her how to use it! I tried to disuade her several times! Eventually gave up and showed her how to use her phone! She couldn\'t remember the number and at first I wasn\'t sure myself because I forgot to change old to new number! But after a while I thought I remembered it right and try to teach it to her! She wanted me to dial! I said she should just tell me what she wanted to tell her daughter and I would take care of it! She said she just wanted to chat with her! I said oh ok! And she proceeded to dial again but dialed wrong and hung up! And just put phone back up! ???? IDK! Anyway I went over all that I had taken care of for her and asked if she needed anything else before I leave! She was fine and I promised I would be back in 2 or 3 days at the latest! She hugged me, smiled and said she had a wonderful time with me today! I smiled all the way home! : )
Thats awesome that she gave you a hug feeling you with all the happiness. I have sat with elderly and now the DR telling me i cant do that anymore kills me i love to sit with them and although they can get to you sometimes i just love it. I wish you all good luck!!
hey know what your going through i work in a nursing home and have seen alot but it does help coming in and visiting them it gives them something to look forward to you are doing great ive seen some families drop them off and never come back sure things might have happened in the past but it is better to forgiveand forget the past even though its hard at times as far as going out for lunch do like some people i know they say they just want it to be the both of them and want to hear how it was when they were younger cause in time theyll forget about it unfortunetly so im realy glad to see you have a great attitude towards her not many people do we forget who it was who did for us so easily
