Help, but NO Help....
I'm sorry I haven't been on for awhile, but you're stuck with me once again. lol (or not)
Like everyone else, I have worked on a few things, but lately am getting very frustrated as I keep running into brick walls. I had a form to be sent with signature to give approval for assistance hooking up with different. I faxed it over a week ago but they never got it. I searched through paperwork and got bills situated and caught up and found it. It was faxed to all ZEROS as the #. Thdey did send a link and I copied and sent that immediately and they were to call me to finish getting things in order, but no call.
I did get a call from a specialist to schedule an appt. It was for an eye ear nose and throat dr who is in the same building as my eye specialists. (You'd think all would be good , right? ) When she asked about my insurance plan, they don;t take HMO-POS. So if I really want to get it checked out I have to search for another.
They sure do seem to enjoy making things more confusing and difficult. When I look online at my insurance info it shows start up date and with amerihealth I got a call awhile back telling me my coverage needed to be renewed as of such a time. That is what started me checking into the whole deal. One of my dr offices said the card was only good through the end of March. The people I spoke with said I have til end of May to renew.
I still have to find somewhere to live come January as I cannot continue to pay so damn much as I am now (even though I am content here) When I check into senior living or income based housing it does no good. Senior living goes right to bungalows , condos and some very nice looking facilities with so many imenities but none I can afford for any extended period of time. Income based goes on waiting lists that last for years . I had thought of rechecking into some independent living at nearby facilities. It sounded good before (except for no real kitchen to cook and bake, but could bring in microwave...) It was more expensive but included everything (probably except for cell, cable) It would still take a healthy chunk from savings each moneth to do that, but I would be safe and still around other people and have some immenities. I've also been checking on Zillow, Apartments.com... don't really trust craig's list. The thing is with that, all are available soon and I would rather wait. So I am like a tired old lady going down as the escalator goes up.
So I am afraid I am once again stuck in a damn rut. Thinking I will just stew there a minute to regroup before yet another attempt.
I hope everyone is doing ok and not stuck in their own ruts. (perhaps we should throw a party down there? lol)

I think senior housing is like that everywhere pretty much. 5 year waiting list. One of my former classmates just got into one sponsored by the churches. She was very happy. It's a bunch of duplex homes in the woods just outside the city....Beautiful place but you have to be lucky to get your name called.
I agree insurance is a nightmare. I get a headache just thinking about it. You have my sympathy on that too......hugs

Hugs, my friend. That is a nightmare. Government, insurance companies and doctors. Thank God, we have our drs covered by tax dollars. No paperwork to fill out, no monthly premiums. Even the hospitals are covered. Get your name on the waiting list, Do it as soon as possible. You can always refuse if you are not ready. Add up all the expenses, everything. Taxes, rent mortgage whatever you have. And compare them to what the homes charges, you will be surprised. How about someone coming in once a week to help you. Hugs and be strong
Yes, get your name on all the waiting lists of income based senior living in your area.
And then congratulate yourself for having done this! It is a big mountain to climb but one thing at a time.
While you wait it out, you can live with a roommate to reduce costs but we baby boomers tend to hate having a roommate. LOL.
Your insurance may END in March but you have till May to get into a healthcare plan. These are two different things.
I am reading about how roadblocks and dead ends are our learning situations. We get so angry and anxious but instead we are supposed to step back and rethink things.
Independent living places are expensive. Do you have Medicaid to qualify for Assisted Living maybe? But you may not need that kind of help. The advantage of living in an over 50 type of place is we can meet people and do activities with others. Being alone, not socializing is not good for us. See if you can find a senior living counselor type person who makes money helping seniors find senior living. They get a commission from places but they may have other ideas. Just know they don't get a commission from government or non-profit senior living places.
