HELP???
Since I have come back after such a long time I had an astronomical number of notifications. No matter how I try I cannot get the number to go down anymore. It is stuck at 2848.
Does anyone know the secret code to get this back down to zero? I guess I have gotten used to it I just try to check current newsfeed , groups or friends. I just would have liked to get back to just number of new activity.
Any help would be appreciated.

You would need to scroll back a lot of pages and dearie each page is fifteen comments so divide that number by fifteen then start going backwards till you have gotten to last of them and click one message there and poof the number goes down. Mine is stuck at 1 I cannot go back ten years to get to zero

Yes, go into the notifications and keep scrolling down and down and clicking on next page type of thing (the "more" button). I have three still stuck forever in the line even though one day I scrolled down 10 pages. I gave up.
Same problem I worked on it for awhile and gave up my number is also silly high
