Healthy Behaviors
I have made some executive decisions in my life...
I will no longer seek the support of my mother in regards to making any choices and will certainly not give her so much information which she can use against me...
I am cleaning and re-decorating my home... It is a positive way to release the dreariness and reflect the beginning of a new day...
I am also cleaning out my friendship closet... If I have told someone something and hear it from someone else, they are not one to have in my life...
I imagine this can be two goals to update... ;)

EXCELLENT, my friend! You are growing in wisdom and strength!
At this time you may just need to cut off constant ties-maybe one day when she realizes you aren\'t the same person that made mistakes all the time, then she will start to treat you better.I know I have had to cut off ties with certain people who could only critize and lie. And good idea about the redecorating! A new start in more than one way
When I was not on medication, owned my own home, and had lots of money, I would re-decorate one room of my house ever 3 months... completely... The only room I left alone was my LR aside from purchasing a new sofa... My home is my sanctuary and refuge... I have always been certain to make it my place of peace...
Redcorating is healthy. You sort through the old, and bring in the new. It\'s a kind of mental house cleaning, too, bringing in tangible symbols of personality development, and getting rid of those things that are not \"you\" anymore..

Loved this article even though I am not the best housekeeper...: Why I Make My Bed {10 Reasons I Keep My House Clean} http://www.livingwellspendingless.com/2012/02/15/why-i-make-my-bed-10-reasons-i-keep-my-house-clean/#_a5y_p=1003686
((Lila)) you go girl!
glad your redecorating,it will keep your mind busy and make a nice change of scenery. As for the friends....your right, someone you tell something to in confidence and then they tell someone else aren\'t real friends and can\'t be trusted, hope you have at least one person you can trust with your life, everybody needs someone like that, mine is my mam im only really sorry it is not the case for you.i totally agree,if you mam cant be trusted not to throw something in your face at a later stage, then i would also be careful what i would say to her.stay strong and positive and enjoy your sanctuary, after all thats what you home is isnt it,the place you feel safest so enjoy doing it and using new colours would be lovely, purple is my favourite :-).... but at the moment i miss clay so much my home has felt like my \"enemy\" as its where i miss him most, coming home to him waiting for me was my happy place for so long....i hope in time it can feel like my sanctuary again, hugs xx
Thank you for your kind words and strong support... I cannot even look at Vincent\'s grave in my backyard... The pain is far too real... There are places in my home which remind me of him: my desk lamp, the pillow next to me, opening canned foods, and so many more... There are times I just break down and cry... That hurts so terribly, but it is what my spirit needs... The release... I can only hang on to those emotions for so long... Stay well, my friend, and know I am just a keystroke away...
Nice journal Lila! I still seek the understanding and support of my mom. She just doesnt get the depression and anxiety thing. It pains me greatly. Wish I could just get my house just PICKED UP. Good for you! And those friends.........
I had a \'friend\' who I confided in. I told her many secretsabout my life and my feelings. I wasn\'t blameless in our friendship, but I never betrayed her confidence. To this day. Only to have someone jokingly bring up all the stuff that I\'d ever told her. Even about my not wanting to live at one point. It was like a joke. I still am hurt about that.
I admire you for taking steps instead of \'sitting\' in it! One day....
There is no better feeling than clearing out clutter and making your place your own sanctuary. I don\'t redecorate as much as I used to, but I am always moving things around sorting and donating things that no longer serve me in this life. Even minor changes help! It\'s become a kid of therapy for me, especially when I\'m feeling particularly anxious.
There was a time in my life when I didn\'t talk to my mother as she didn\'t approve of the person I was seeing. She had a prejudice regarding people with accents. Then one day I called her (for her bd) and she never said a word again about it. I think she finally understood I was an adult and making derogatory comments just pushed me away. We became close after that. She\'s been gone 10 years now and I\'m glad we were able to finally patch things up. I think stepping away and not asking for approval is a way to gain respect. I wish you well with your Mom.
As far as friends, I walked away from one especially close friend that I called sister after 15 years of friendship. She had a very strong personality and felt the need to tell me how to live, what to do, what to wear... It was hard as I was very close to one of her daughters. It was a freeing feeling not having someone always telling me what to do... pushy is another way to describe her. I look back and wonder why I put up with it for so long... Get rid of those \"Debbie downers\" and find friends you can trust and make you feel good about yourself. Your strength comes from within, you are worth it!
Hugs xoxo
