Healing

I saw this online and actually posted this in the bereavement forum. It's an interesting way of explaining loss and healing:

A CUT FINGER
A cut finger is numb before it bleeds
it bleeds before it hurts
it hurts until it begins to heal
it forms a scab and itches until finally,
the scab is gone and a small scar is left where once there was a wound.
Grief is the deepest wound you ever had.
Like a cut finger it goes through stages and leaves a scar.

I can't wait for the bleeding to stop, so I can get my scar. Wishing all of us peace to get through our losses and pain, so we can heal.

That is a beautiful analogy. I hope your scar comes sooner than later. Peace and healing to you.

It took me a whole year to accept my father\'s death. I would just start crying out of the blue...fortunately I had a good friend who would just hold me. He didn\'t ask me to explain - he just said go ahead and cry...and I did..it was so comforting.

Interesting analogy. But since my beloved Mom died I experienced much more pain than a cut finger. It feels more like a terrible AMPUTATION!

I understand that perfectly, my mother in law is dying of lung cancer and it is almost we have already lost her because she is not all there in her head.
