he's almost finished
T-Man is now finished with his on-line school. Now the big hurtle will be to get him to sit down and work on his paper. He's been putting this off for months and could have been graduated by now if he had started this paper. I hope he'll decide soon to work on it so that he'll finally have his high school diploma. The paper is only to be 8 pages long. We had offered time and time again to help him but he refused. Maybe now he's ready. I hope so. All I know is that he's been coming home relatively early and seems "settled". I told him yesterday how proud I am of him. I hope, as time goes on, that our relationship improves. I don't feel a sense of closeness with him - a distance - in fact - and it bothers me. He still feels a sense of entitlement and when I don't give in to his demands he shuts me out. And although it bothers me - I know it's in his best interests that I hold my ground. Just thought he would have gotten it a little more by now. I must be remember to be patient and keep in mind that he has some catching up to do. Of course, I am grateful that he's continuing on this path of sobriety and know that this whole experience is a process. BTW - it's so strange for my son's former private counselor to ask me (and my husband) to present our program to a group of school guidance counselors next month. He told me that he still needs to talk to his partners about this but will be getting back to me soon. When I dropped some info. off at his office about placing an ad in a new local paper he asked me if I might be interested. How did he know about it? I didn't recall telling him. Well, his text message to me indicated that a parent told him about our presentation. I hope he lets me know soon so I can make the adjustments.
