Harper's Ferry Trip

I had the BEST time on vacation last week when I went to Harper's Ferry WV.  I've been there a few times with my friends.  Only day trips, but this time I spent 3 days there.  I took an Amtrak train out there.  It took about an hour from Union Station DC.   The weather was really nice, not too warm.  it cooled down each day.  I stayed at a Quality Inn, it was SO wonderful to have my own space, my own bathroom and didn't have to answer to anyone.  I could spend each day however I wanted.  I arranged a ride from the station to the hotel (and back to the station when I was leaving)  and walked to town.  It was almost half an hour walk each way, but wasn't a bad walk.   There are plenty of hikers and bikers, the Appalachian trail runs through that area.   It was quiet, most of the tourists were not there.  Also the major roadway was closed because of construction, it will be closed until Dec.  They are taking care of rock slides that is why the road is closed. 

There are quaint shops and a big church (St. Peter's) on the hilltop.   I visited a wonderful candy store called True Treats (I get e mails from them periodically, they ship their stuff too. I have a friend who orders from them.)  I took a pic of the goodies I got.
