Happy Pride!
It is MY religious holiday. The last time I went to the Boston Gay Pride parade was two years ago, it was cold and rainy, I went by myself. Today I went with some friends, it was warm, sunny, cool breezes. Afterwards to an open house hosted by a friend of one of the friends and then a block party. Sigh. Thank goodness for all the gay people. For the Dykes on Bikes. For the drag queens who have no inhibitions or boundaries. For the pretty dancing boys. And the smell of testosterone. For the mayor of Boston marching at the head of the parade. For music and dancing and sunscreen. For nipple rings, tatoos and four-year-old twin nieces. For the many supportive congregations, clergies, family groups, for the "Happy Pride" and "Have a Gay Day" well wishes, for the circle of friends and acquaintances that expanded today. Today I'm happy to be gay, happy to be surrounded by gay, happy to have a gay eye looking at gay guys. Gay, Gay, Gay. I left a little early to come home, hubby had to work and had invited several people over for dinner. They all pooped out except our neighbor who is one of the coolest ladies you'll ever meet... so a lovely quiet end to all the excitement. Here's to being gay and not being isolated: cheers! ...now back to those progress reports...
