Happy November

Hello again.

I can't believe it's November already. Election day has passed and I never did get my new address updated yet so I couldn't vote... absentee or in person. I try NOT to listen too much to news since I get so annoyed with the bias and the hateful division between everybody. But other friends do follow and I ultimately hear from them. It seems the mudslinging rhetoric that has been shown nonstop has worked in PA.

Things are still the same here. We have a new manager but today is the first day we are left with her , the new sales manager, and few of our old team who do actually try to improve what they can for the residents. They still stick around while being taken advantage of because they care about us.  Happy to say the big wig corporate person who is now reaping benefits by cutting costs and following every little reg to stay on the good side of the owners and grow her salary is finally gone today.  Ahhh... a small sigh of relief.  Now to see what happens.  I am still hoping and praying .

I spent yesterday with a very nice couple from here. Bob and Margot. He still drives and she and I are quite close. I was advised by my PT that I should go to urgent care since I was having some issues.... with my right index finger and my left foot. Both were very swollen and inflamed and she worried I may have an infection.  Of course they still have noone hired for the position here. So they took me. I had to go to 2 urgent cares (1 for xrays) then to the pharmacy. In between I insisted on treating them to lunch.  We got so much food we brought back for dinner.  It worked out well for me because then I just propped up the feet and rested.

I decided I am gonna hide  out for the day. Getting my meals delivered and staying put in my apt. I was told there were no calcification  so it wasn't gout  but there was extensive arthritis and a small piece of bone fragment in left foot.  She gave me an antiinflamatory and said she thinks the redness and heat might have been from the extreme tightness and swelling of the joints.  I am only to take 1 a day. Between the rest and the med it is helping. I did tell her I have an appt with my rheumotologist in another week but if it would not improve or worsen I would call him immediately.  I do take tramadol as well .

I look forward to the holidays here. Even thought they may not be as festive out in common areas I am already picturing where my tree and deco will go in my apt. My only regret is that I cannot cook and bake like normal. I am still to be baking with the kids and suppose I could ask to use the stove and oven in our activity room. My wheels are turning though. Thinking maybe a few of us ladies could use the kitchen to make some favorite dishes.

Well my breakfast has just arrived so I will close for now. I hope you all have a great  ( at least GOOD) day.

Luv and hugs, Kim

Sounds like you have nice day planned. One day maybe i can enjoy the good retired life. For now still dealing with the working world. You're getting me in the holiday mood. I hear it may snow later in Michigan....so not ready for summer to be over (I'm in serious denial this year)

I hope your feet start to feel better. My arthritis started in my feet and I had to retire from working. I do wear expensive orthopedic shoes but I can't stand or walk all that much without causing terrible pain in about 3 hours. From having foot surgery, I wonder if the bone fragment can cause pain for some people. You are such a kind person to Bob and Margot.

So glad you are thinking up fun and festive ideas for the holidays coming up. You make that place a happier place. I hope your feet are better soon.

Thanks. You mentioned the S word. MelT I will cross my fingers since I still remember the worry of just when a storm would hit and having to get to work. Like you, I am also NOT READY for the bitter cold and bare trees. I am in PA and they are trying to build up for a snow storm here this weekend. I am trying to look ahead to something positive so I am already getting excited for Christmas but could be content with snow just that day. LOL But our wants don't seem to matter in the end.... what will be will be.

I have to say since being retired and not needing to worry about driving I do look forward to watching the fresh coats of white once they do eventually come coating the shrubs and trees surrounding this place. But I do send my thoughts and prayers with all of you having to venture out. Please be careful and safe If you are a senior working part time, think about what would happen if you did actually fall or have an accident. Hugs, Kim
