Happy thursday! :) Doing ok, after storm. Tended our plants. pear tree update. Peaceful day :)
Happy Cool Thursday! :) We're enjoying a nice relaxing, and peaceful day :) We're so glad, and thankful the weather eased, it got very stormy yesterday, in the Northeast, with the remnants of Ida. We're all ok here, we recieved over 7 inches of rain here, and had a tornado watch, and flash flood warning for our city. Schools ended up closing here, due to flooding in our city. there's flooding in the parking lot of backus hospital, along with taco bell/kfc, staples, shopping center, and by mohegan park. we had thunder, and very heavy rain here overnight. our thoughts, prayers, and hearts are with everyone impacted by the severe weather, from Ida. we hope everyone is ok. multiple states experienced tornadoes, flooding. it was a very stormy day and night from the remnants of ida. we hope and pray, that all of the flooding eases, and that everyone is having calm, and dry weather. We checked in on our plants, they're doing ok. :) it was raining so hard here last night, with some gusts of winds,we could hear the raindrops hitting our windows, sounded like small pebbles, it was a wild sound. We're so thankful and very glad the weather has eased :) One of our pear trees is uprooting, the tree by our large garden. We're gonna try to save it. We've been hanging out today, we enjoyed some nature walks, tending our plants that needed uplifting, and also put some sports radio on :) We're getting ready for a super fun baking friday adventure, and upcoming weekend :) blossoming into the new month, doing some organizing :) Enjoying a sweet peaceful day, with family, friends, nature walks, garden tending, and the awesome spirit of blossoming September :) Tomorrow's baking friday! :) calling all cookie monsters! :) cookie monsters unite! :) it's almost time to bake! bake! bake! :)
Some peaceful calm moments, after a very stormy day and night. Hi angel friends! :) my family, Holly, and i hope and pray ,that everyone is doing well, healthy, and enjoying a good day, and we pray that everyone is ok, after the very severe weather yesterday and last night ,that impacted many states, including tornadoes, and flooding. Our thoughts, prayers, and hearts are with everyone. wishing everyone much comfort. We're all doing ok here, we had some severe rains and some flooding in our city in many areas, due to the storm. We recieved over 7 inches of rain here, uncasville right down the road from us recieved 8.5 inches of rain. it was raining so hard, it was wild to hear it, and rumbling of thunder after 9pm last night. we had a tornado watch, and also a flash flooding warning went off on our cell phones, around 12:30am. Thankfully no tornadoes impacted our area, and state, but awful tornadoes did impact numerous states around the northeast. wishing everyone much healing, and continued safety. They ended up closing schools here in our city due to some flooding. The Yantic River here, is prone to flooding. it did crest today at over 11 feet. dominos where my dad and Lisa work, is flooding from the river, inside, and also outside. the boss has water pumps, to try to keep the water level down. it's right the river. Lisa showed us pictures of dominos parking lot, backus hospital, and restaurant/shopping centers, experiencing flooding here. We were watching some coverage of the storm last night, on the weather channel. they showed the George Washington Bridge, and also Newark, airport. all our trees, and plants are ok, after the storm. the plants will need a few days to get their balance back, but thankfully all is ok :) all of Holly's relatives in Maryland ,are ok, and safe :) our continued prayers, for everyone impacted by the storm, and our hearts and prayers go out to everyone who lost loved ones. We've been checking in on friends, and many friends checking in on us. :) Thank you all so very much for your prayers, and warm well wishes <3 we hope and pray, for a long stretch of peaceful, calm weather as September continues on. our nature friends, went through such a wild night of weather, i put extra seeds outside for them in our front yard :) it did get sunny today, it's a huge relief :)
This morning, we had a much needed, peaceful day, rising and shining :) it was a worrysome evening, and night, with a tornado watch being put up, for our area, and earlier seeing tornadoes forming from the storm. i kept my cell phone on last night, for any alerts, as the national weather services sends out emergency alerts. When we woke up this morning, our power was still on, and the storm had moved more out of our way. it's very wild, how many states hurricane ida impacted. i beliieve our rainfall totals here, may be a record, for most amount of rain in such a short amount of time. We're all looking forward to some nice sunshine, dry days, and some spirit soaring september nature :) i was up early this morning, enjoying some nice time here on DS, writing to friends, and getting ready to go outside for my early morning nature walk ,i wanted to check in on our plants, and trees. the rain had let up, by 7am. i gathered a big bowl of goodies, and went outside :) i first checked all of our backyard trees, they all are ok :) it was still breezy out there. i put lots of goodies in our backyard, for our nature friends :) we hope all of our nature friends are ok, and safe :) we love them :)
all of our plants, and garden are doing well :) they're a bit frazzled, from the heavy rain, but overall, managed the rain, and gusty winds fairly well. We're so proud of our plants :) i uplifted some of our sunflowers, cosmos, marigolds, and zinnia's this morning :) the rain water weighs down the blossoms, and causes the plants to lean over. they'll be looking forward to much drying, and spirit soaring in the sunshine again :) all of our popcorn plants, our rose bush, snowball bush, are all doing well :)our peppers plants held up very well also, in the heavy rains and gusty winds. We're so thankful our plants are ok :) it's been a wild season of weather, with 3 storm (elsa, henri, and ida) impacting our areas at times, some stretches of very hot weather, rainy weather, windy, lots of storms at times. We're amazed, at our plants, and how well they have handled the storms. one of our pear trees needs help, it's uprooting/leaning. we're gonna try to save the tree, it's our pear tree by our large garden. my dad may use his tractor mower, to push the tree back into straight position, and we will post some heavy bags of rocks on the soil where the trunk of the tree is. it's very upsetting seeing the tree leaning. we hope to save it. Holly and i are looking forward to lots more nature walks, gardening, and later on this month, seeing some trees begin to change colors, for the fall season :) There's lots to look forward too :) it's a peaceful day for our plants and garden, as they get their balance back after the stormy weather. Thank you angel friend, so very much, for sharing in the gardening season with us :)

Sunny garden greetings! :) Hi angel friends, we're gonna do all we can, to try to save our pear tree. it's leaning/uprooting. We're thinking, maybe my dad's tractor mower ,can push it back into straight position, and putting some heavy bags of rocks on the grass, near the trunk of the tree. we got so much rain, from the storm, it's made the ground very saturated. we're hopeful, to be able to save the tree, it's not broke, but is bending/leaning. Holly and i tended our plants ,uplifting them :) We're looking forward to many more nature walks, gardening, and hoping to save our pear tree :) we've had the tree for a good, 12 to 15 years, it's a really nice tree, and is a special part of our yard, and garden :) i took some new pictures to share :)
Tiger's sunflower is enjoying some sunshine :)

Holly and i picked some tomatoes :)

September sweet blue sky and sunshine :) We're so glad, and thankful our weather cleared up :)

Blue skies again! Happy baking Friday!! I’m going treasure hunting. I’ll write about my adventures later.:)
Hi Chris, I sure hope you can save that pear tree!! Happy to heat that you and your family had no other damage!!
All you garden pics are amazing as usual, :-)
Enjoy the nicer weather and enjoy your baking with the boys today, ;-)
Lots of hugs, Jeannie
Hi Chris and Holly. So glad you all are all right and didn't have any storm damage. My sister had a tornado go through their neighborhood and took a lot of trees down and did a lot of damage. She said she was never so scared. We had our basement flooded but all the water went down the drain. The water was coming in faster than the drain could handle it. We have a spring in our basement that floods when we get a lot of rain. We have the outdoor basement doors open drying it out.
We didn't get nearly as much rain as they did south and east of us. We were pretty much on the northern edge of the storm and ended up with only 2.5 inches of rain overall. But the winds were what scared me more than the rain. It was definitely a wild storm.
We have sunny skies today and a perfect temperature day as well. John is going to cut the grass and I am going to clean the house. I don't know where all the dust comes from. The road hadn't been dusty because of all the rain but my living room still had a ton of dust on the furniture.
Hope you all have fun baking today. Make some really good goodies. Those tomatoes look really good. If I lived close I would come over for a BLT sandwich!!
Have a great weekend.
Hugs
John and Debbie
