my dad's having a great birthday! :) he's enjoying his very special day. :) We've been helping make his birthday very special, and memorable. :) We've been enjoying nice quality time together, in our yard, gardens, and enjoyed a nice car ride, and a great visit with my grandma. :) We planted some flowers at my grandma's house today! :) This day is rocking and rolling! :) getting to garden with my dad, on his birthday, is so very special to me. :) my family and i want to take this time, to thank you all so very much, for your nice happy birthday wishes for my dad. :) he says hi, and "thanks" :) awww! :) it's a beautiful golden sunny spring day, with lots of sunsine, sweet blue sky, and glorious blossoming of spring time flowers. :) We love these very special times, and celebrating them with everyone. :) We feel your loving prescence with us, all throughout the day. :) Thank you for celebrating my dad's birthday with us. :)
This morning, we wished my dad a happy birthday. :) We were all gathering around in our living room. :) we gave my dad some nice gifts. :) my mom gave him a goodies bag, with some of his favorite treats, and snacks, including tortilla chips, and candies. :) She also gave him a happy birthday card, and a $50 amazon gift card. :) my sister Lisa, nieces Alyssa, Kayla, and Taylynn gave him a card, amazon gift card to open something he needs for the jeep, and Taylynn colored a nice picture for my dad. :) awww! :) i gave my dad a card, and $20 to shop with. :) he loves to go out to shop, he goes to walmart, dollar store, goodwill, and surplus unlimited store. :) my dad's so happy! :) our dog Tucker was giving my dad a hug this morning! :) awww! :) my dad and i went outside in our yard, and were looking at the plants. :) We got some cool gardening plans soon, that i'll share here in my journal today. :)
my grandma invited us over, to celebrate my dad's birthday, and had some special surprises for my dad! :) awww! :) she's so nice, and sweet. :) around mid-day, we were getting ready to go to my grandma's house. :) we love visiting with her. :) my mom, dad, and i began our journey, to New London, Connecticut, to visit my grandma. :) We took the nice beautifully scenic backroads route to my grandma's :) We drove past malerba's farm, the golf course, and peaceful pond. :) i was taking pictures to share with everyone. :) Malerba's farm has nice tomato plants in hanging baskets planters. :) We're gonna buy one for my grandma, to give to her for mother's day. :) She enjoyed her tomato plant so much last year, we want to give her another one this year. :) we saw 2 happy ducks swimming in the peaceful pond, on this beautifully sweet classic, and golden spring day. :)
my mom, dad, and i were enjoying a nice talk, and seeing all of the wonderful spring flowers blossoming, and trees growing blossoms, and new leaves, all around. :) we drove through uncasville, ct, where the mohegan sun is, and made our way into montville, ct, and before we knew it, we were in new london, ct. :) almost to grandma's house. :) it's a really picture perfect day, the golden sunshine, spring spirit in the air, celebrating my dad's birthday. :) We arrived at my grandma's house. :) She was so happy! :) She waved to us, and welcomed us in, with a nice hug, and a kiss on our cheeks! :) She's so sweet. :) We gathered in my grandma's kitchen, she was so happy, she said, "Bud" (my dad's nickname), "look at your birthday table, surprise!" :) awww! :) my grandma bought a happy birthday cake, and gifts for my dad! :) awww! :) my dad's very happy. :) my grandma put her sunflower table clothe on her table, she loves her nice tableclothes she has for the seasons. :)
We enjoyed a wonderful visit. :) my grandma is doing really well. :) She had her kitchen window open, a nice sunshine cool breeze flowing into the kitchen. :) my dad loves his cake, and my grandma gave him some more gifts too. :) a nice card, $25 walmart gift card, a box of Russel Stover's chocolates, a new Wallet, and a new Shirt. :) my dad loves his gifts! :) he thanked my grandma. :) we were sitting, chatting, enjoying a nice visit. :) we brought a new movie to give to my grandma. :) She loves her movie nights. :) my grandma told me to tell everyone, she says Hello :) awww :) my grandma mentioned her nice lillies and daffodils plants she recieved for Easter, and my dad said we would love to plant them in her patio garden. :) my grandma got us a huge spoon to dig in the soil. :)
my dad and i went outside, and we found my grandma's 2 lillies that have sprouted, that we have planted in recent years. :) We made some nice spaces, to plant about 6 daffodils bulbs, and also planted the new lilly plant. :) we put a nice small fence around my grandma's plants, and showed her where her new lillies are sprouting, and growing. :) She's so happy, that her lillies will be blossoming this new season. :) my grandma's very proud of her patio garden. :) my dad and i washed our hands, and my grandma thanked us for planting her new daffodils and lilly plant. :) my grandma gave my mom, some nice butter cookies, and a plant. :) awww! :) we were enjoying our visit. :) We're going to visit my grandma on saturday, to bring her some mother's day gifts, including a tomato plant. :) She's gonna be so excited! :) She loves tomatoes, and had so much fun growing tomatoes last year. :) we got ready to make our journey home, we waved to my grandma. :) She was waving to us. :)

We have some nice gardening plans. :) my dad and i have been noticing, that one of the squirrels visiting our yard, has been eating our seeds we're planting. that cute little rascal! hehe! ;) i've been spotting the squirrel running away from the gardens in the morning. he ate the sunflower seeds, sweet corn seeds, and the pumpkin seeds we've planted, and even was trying to eat our daisy plant! oh my! my dad and i are gonna be going gardening shopping soon, at home depot. :) We're stocking up on some bags of soil, and also going to buy a few more packets of garden seeds. :) my dad and i have come up with a good plant, to help keep our planters safe from the squirrel in the garden. my dad has this huge cage, it's almost like a lobster pot, that a lobster fisherman would use. he put in our garden, and we're gonna replant sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and corn seeds, and gonna put the planters in the cake, and it should keep the planters safe from the squirrels. it's wild, we put so many nice goodies out for the squirrels, and birds, and the squirrels still going wild, gathering our planted seeds in the garden. hehe! oh my! we'll definitely go shopping soon, and doing some more gardening. :)
We're enjoying a really nice day today, celebrating my dad's birthday. :) Lots of great memories being made, to always cherish, and treasure. :) We decided to wait until another time, to go to the mohegan sun casino, we were gonna go today, but decided to wait. :) my niece Alyssa knows a lady, that sells avon, and my mom, Lisa, and Kayla were looking at the catalogs this morning, and i noticed there is some halloween stuff in the catalog, including a halloween tree that lights up, it's different than my fiber optic tree, but still looks really cool, and caught my eye, and i thought about how it would be very nice to have it for my halloween town in October. :) i decided to use $17 of my birthday money, to buy the halloween tree. :) when it arrives, i'll take a picture to share with everyone. :)
Today for lunch, i enjoyed some corn on the cob, a fresh crisp salad, and a slice of rye bread. :) lunch was delicious! :) my family and i are doing well, and are in good spirits. :) tonight, i'm gonna take a good hour, to do some letter writing. :) Tomorrow is sweet treats tuesday. :) we're gonna get some treats, and tomorrow evening, my mom, Lisa, and i are going to go shopping for some birthday gifts, for a friend. :) on super wednesday, we're going to the post office to mail a treasures package, and letters. :) i'm feeling nicely energized today, and so excited, celebrating my dad's birthday :) my dad went to walmart earlier, he bought a cool double A battery charger with some of his gift card money :) he loves his new purchase :) my family and i thank you all so very much, for all that you do for us. :) You all are very special friends, and bring great joy, happiness, peace, and sunshine to our days, and our lives. :) We deeply appreciate everything, with all of our hearts. :) BIG GROUP HUG :) tonight, i'm gonna write some letters, notes, and gonna watch tv. :) There's many more great things to look forward too. :)

Sorry to hear your nature friends are snacking on your seeds. That is why I can no longer grow anything out on my patio.Everything gets eaten. I can\'t wait to one day come to the Mohegan Sun and meet you all there for a nice tea :) I have to get over this health issue first, and hopefully it will all resolve itself simply, and then I can think about budgeting for a holiday if it\'s possible this year. It was such a lovely train trip from New York to New London :) I still reminisce about it often! Do you all get to New York?

I agree with ddeadred,moth balls work for me but I also think you and your Dad\'s idea will work too. Those squirrels just can\'t resist goodies can they..*smiling* I have three that come every morning for their treats..peanuts. One comes up to me and will take a peanut out of my hand...I also sometimes cut up a small bit of brown bread w/peanut butter on it. Boy does that little guy/girl like that!
