Happy Birthday

I'm writing this tonight, as I don't know what tomorrow will bring in the workplace to prevent me from writing this entry in my journal.
I came to our gravesite today, as I do every holiday, anniversary, and birthday.  I placed flowers for your birthday.  Hard to believe you left this earth almost 16 months ago, and harder still to fathom that your beautiful, loving soul, has been reduced to a box of ashes in the ground.
How I miss you.  How I thought that today we would be dining at our favorite restaurant with good friends to celebrate another birthday.  How I thought that tomorrow you would turn 64.  How I thought that I would need to get my butt in gear and start the wheels in motion to have employment settled in anticipation of your 65th birthday, and our plans to snowbird in Florida.
Instead, I long to be in your arms, smell your neck, and dance in the living room to our favorite tunes.  Instead, I dedicate church altar flowers in memory of your birthday, and instead, I place flowers at the grave.
I wonder if God acknowledges birthdays in heaven.  If so, make the best of another year without me.  Know that you live in my heart, forever connected in my soul.
Happy Birthday, Love Muffin
