Happiness

Happiness what is the true meaning? In the dictionary it say's it's a mental state of well-being characterized by positive emotions from contetment to intense joy. Where bis my happiness my positive emotion? How do I find it? Is it even in me? I wish I could reach into my soul and search for it , but I get discouraged the thought of all that digging I would have to do just to find out I have none. I'm not talking about when you get a Christmas gift you've alway's wanted. I,m talking real and true happiness  I need it, I want it, And i deserve it. Why can't I find it?

I say take the chance and do the digging. If there\'s a chance that it will lead to you finding happiness, it\'s worth trying.
Are you EVER happy now? Do you know what it feels like to experience it?
Take a look at that definition. \'Happiness is a mental state of well-being.\' Well, that sort of leaves us out in the cold at least some of the time, because of Depression and Bipolar.
But yes, at the core of things, at least some of the time, feeling content is how life should be.
I\'m sure that for a small segment of society, happiness will always elude them, which is very sad. But for the vast majority, the possibility to be happy exists. Some who could experience it actually choose not to. They aren\'t willing to do the necessary digging.
You seem to imply that you know how to take pleasure in something. Even if it\'s \'just\' from a present you receive. That shows that you at least have the capacity to feel the emotion. What you want to be able to do is to extrapolate that to how you feel about life in general. (True, the happiness you feel when you get a wanted present it s little bit different than the happiness you feel if you are a \'well-adjusted\' person, but to some degree, \'happy\' is \'happy\'. If you can feel it about a gift, I think you have it in you to tap into it when it comes to how you feel about yourself and about your life.
Have you ever been in therapy? That helped me immensely and was successful in my learning how to be happy.
That was many, many years ago though, and long before I became Bipolar. I will admit that Depression and/or Bipolar Disorder rob me of my happiness at times.
Perhaps the key to your happiness might even be found in a medicine. I hope that you aren\'t doomed by your illnesses to never know happiness.
But please keep trying everything that you can to achieve it. It\'s so worth it.
I\'m sorry that life is not a happy place for you to be, right now and I hope that that changes. (((((Hugs)))))
