Hanging on.
Went to my CPR class yesterday and when I got up this morning I was sore. I had spent three hours kneeling down practicing compressions for CPR class. I was wondering why my arms hurt last night when I had my hands resting on the steering wheel of the car and I didn't realize until this morning that it was from doing compressions on the dummies in class. I'm glad I took the class but it was slow going today.
I also had swollen glands this morning, some days less so than others, but usually a little puffy and tender under and behind my ears. I've also been feeling my ole' sore throat. Chronic sore throat has been one of my symptoms with CFS. I usually just take some vitamin C and eichinacea and it fades away if I rest.
I don't think it's contagious because my family has never gotten sick even though I have sore throats pretty regularly when I get run down. I started wondering about going to the hospital when I feel this way. I'm so used to plowing through and hanging on that it doesn't seem like "sickness" in the traditional sense - the kind that can be passed to others. I don't know. This CFS is strange stuff and I take all of the precautions when it comes to visiting patients - we have to wash our hands going in and out of rooms, etc.
So far I have made it a point to stay out of the patient's rooms that have tested positive for c-diff (contagious infection). Fortunately, I'm not like the nurses and others that HAVE to see certain people. Unless they specifically request a chaplain I don't have to make a visit if I don't feel the need. Otherwise, I would suit up in all the gown, mask, gloves, etc. and see them if I had to.
I got a flu shot a couple of weeks ago. I didn't recognize any effects from that - I think it's about 10 days if you are going to feel anything and I'm past that.
There is no evidence that this stuff (CFS) is contagious. My symptoms haven't ever seemed to make anyone else around me sick so I just carry on. How can we know if we make others sick when we don't know what made us sick?
