Hangin' in
Once my life
was movin' on
Life was bliss,
I was havin' fun
Then I saw the doc for bad lungs and sore feet
They ran some tests.
"Guess what, you have Hepatitis C!"
My mouth stopped working,
I couldn't speak.
Life was no more fun,
Am I now a freak?
I don't know what happened
I was livin' clean
How can this world be so mean?
Doc said it can be treated
Little did I know
What he was talkin' 'bout
Was CHE-MO.
"You have half a chance,
it takes 24 weeks,
then 24 more, if you come up clean.
You give yourself a shot,
and take some pills,
Theymakeyousick,
Andgiveyouchills.
You cannot sleep
It's hard to eat
You'll lose some weight
and be off your feet.
And if the sides are too much to take
I pray the Lord your soul to take."
Doc asked, "are you depressed?"
"I am now," I said.
"Whadaya want from me,
you said I'm half dead!"
I might make it
And I might not
The drugs might kill me
If my liver does not.
And what about work?
What are they gonna say?
I'm gonna tell them.
What the hey!
They don't care, they say it's ok.
One says she'd kill herself
before suffering like me.
What a baby, it's not for the weak.
But the one good thing
that came to me
Is a thing called DS,
that set me free,
To be myself and complain and moan
To meet great people
Who've been down this road
To help me along
And carry my load.
To make me laugh
We even have a Troll.
Were all a part
Of one big family
We fight like kids
And rage, it's so silly.
Let's hang together
And we'll all make it
We're roped together
And nothing will break it
I'm tired and weak
But, thanks to y'all
I can take it.
I can take it.
