Handling Estranged Daughter
I really need some advice on this. I have an adult daughter that I haven't had any contact with since 1999. She hates me, and the last time I was around her she was very dramatic and was attempting to cause a huge fight with me. She was extremely loud and very disruptive, very embarrassing and I had such a hard time deaing with this.
My mother who is 93 years old and is failing at a rapid pace. I'm sure she won't last long if you know what I mean. My estranged daughter lives about 2-1/2 hours away from my mother and I.
When my mother passes....she has her funeral arrangements alread set up. This is going to be a formal event. My mother's church will be handling the funeral. Lots of people will be there. My mother was well known in the community.
My grandaughter (daughter of my estrange daughter) lived with my mother for several years....several years back. She is close to my mother.
Ok, now here is the issue: Honestly, I do not want my daughter to attend my mother's funeral AT ALL !!!! I'm already getting stressed about this issue. If my daughter attended my mothers funeral she will make a huge scene, cause all kinds of trouble, and drama. I can't handle that at all !!
The problem is this: I'm pretty certain that I won't even notify my daughter of my mothers passing, so that will solve that problem, HOWEVER........how do I handle my granddaughter....meaning.....if I let my granddaughter know of my mothers passing, then she would most certainly tell her mother (my daughter), then my daughter would show up!!!!
Part of me says well then, don't invite either of them to the funeral. I don't know what to do here? Any suggestions will be very appreciated !!

Wow, judging by the date it’s quite possible you remedied this quagmire. I understand completely when your own child couldn’t or wouldn’t respect the process of life’s landmarks. Tough call not inviting your grand , I hope things worked out.
