Halloween Activities
I have 3 little ones. A daughter who is 6, a daughter who is 4 and a son who is 18 months old. My anxiety has caused me to cut back on taking them places sometimes. We still do things at home, and they have friends in the neighborhood they play with (and they are small enough I am outside with them all the time) so they are not shut in just because my world has gotten a little smaller, but I still feel guilt all the same that I do not just take them anywhere on a whim.
When I do make plans to take them somewhere, I often worry about it for hours if not days in advance. How will it go, how will I do getting all of them in the car? What if one of them takes off on me? What if I have a panic attack? Along that vein.
Well, this is the time of year that all of those special activities for little ones happen, and I am so happy to say that I have made it to 2 of them in the past 2 days!!!! On Friday I took the kids to Flabbergast (indoor jump and play thing) for a Halloween party and today we did downtown Trick or Treat! I only did 1 "alone" (I went with a friend, but one who doesn't really know about my anxiety issues), the other I did with my husband today, and both went fine. We all survived. I came home with the same number of kids that I went with! And I didn't have any major anxiety issues, and I even had fun!
I'm so pleased that I was able to do these things. Especially because I have a Trunk or Treat tonight at a friend's church, and a kids Halloween Party next week at church and then actual Trick or Treat (during which my husband has to work). I don't want my kids to miss out because of my shortcomings, so hopefully I can continue to do well with this.
