Half way there!

In keeping with my training schedule I was supposed to run 14 miles today.  I've never gone further than 13.1 and I am not a morning person---those two strikes against me, I had my doubts that I'd make it when I rolled out of bed for a 7:30 am run.  I usually run at night, but had plans to take my mom out for her 81st birthday, so had to adjust my routine.  But I did it!!! A full 14 miles under 3 hours and I can still walk :-)  I spent ample time telling Jeff he'd better get me through this since he's how I got into it in the first place!  He came through for me, as did my lungs and legs---my toenails are a different story, but we don't need to go there.  So I'm halfway to the 26.2 mile goal in December and should be able to finish the Chicago half marathon in a couple weeks.   Also signed up for the Susan Komen run here in town the week after that----more so to raise money for breast cancer research than for the race, but if I'm gonna be running that day anyway, why not make it for a good cause?! I'll be running in honor of my mom - a 6 year survivor, and in memory of some very special women who were not as fortunate--including a student of mine who was taken way too young.  I'm feeling very blessed tonight to have my health and to have the opportunity to pursue a goal that Jeff didn't have the chance to finish.
