Half way there!

In keeping with my training schedule I was supposed to run 14 miles today.  I've never gone further than 13.1 and I am not a morning person---those two strikes against me, I had my doubts that I'd make it when I rolled out of bed for a 7:30 am run.  I usually run at night, but had plans to take my mom out for her 81st birthday, so had to adjust my routine.  But I did it!!! A full 14 miles under 3 hours and I can still walk :-)  I spent ample time telling Jeff he'd better get me through this since he's how I got into it in the first place!  He came through for me, as did my lungs and legs---my toenails are a different story, but we don't need to go there.  So I'm halfway to the 26.2 mile goal in December and should be able to finish the Chicago half marathon in a couple weeks.   Also signed up for the Susan Komen run here in town the week after that----more so to raise money for breast cancer research than for the race, but if I'm gonna be running that day anyway, why not make it for a good cause?! I'll be running in honor of my mom - a 6 year survivor, and in memory of some very special women who were not as fortunate--including a student of mine who was taken way too young.  I'm feeling very blessed tonight to have my health and to have the opportunity to pursue a goal that Jeff didn't have the chance to finish.

You go girl !!! A great accomplishment AND early in the morning too, I am impressed !! I know that Jeff is so proud of all of your accomplishments and he\'s right there with you every step (no pun intended) of the way. Running for the Susan Komen run is awesome - I have a very close friend battling breast cancer now for the 2nd time and she is 47..............so I thank you in advance for that ! Have a great day and Happy Birthday to Mom !! Hugs,

Chris

You are incredible and my hero!! I think a half marathon is probably the furthest distance I will ever pull off. I\'m proud of you. If you can accomplish this you can accomplish ANYTHING you put your mind to, including building an entirely different future than what you imagined.

Still hoping you and the kidlets will plan a trip to the sunny Southwest and stay with us. We can go for a run -- although 6 miles is my absolute maximum! Love you, kiddo. Keep in touch.

Hey Stranger! Great to hear from you! Hope life is treating you well. We were just ironing out the clinic schedule for the next 12 mos this afternoon and once it is approved, I can look into Arizona plans. I promise I won\'t run more than 6 miles. If I make it through the full marathon in December, I think I\'ll scale back to 10K\'s or less for the rest of my natural life----don\'t want to stress these old bones too much-ha,ha. Would love to catch up with you. Until then, take care. Love, CJ

You get a superhero status from me. I am so proud for you. I used to run so I know the unwritten story about the toenails. Keep going......we are all here to cheer you on!!!! Hugs, Dianne

Thanks, Dianne. So you know that toenail polish can either be put on toenails or where they should be, right?-LOL Luckily, I\'ve still got 10 at the moment. Thanks so much for the encouragement....I\'m sure not deserving of superhero status---it\'s just nice to have an aspect of my life that I can have some control over these days---other than running, most of it doesn\'t fit that bill! Hope you are having a good week so far. Hugs-CJ
