Half Marathon?

I don't know if I can do the half marathon anymore. I've only been training for a couple of weeks and I'm super sore. I've been having to take Vicodin for the pain because it's so bad. I haven't done anything since last Monday when I walked 2 miles. Last Saturday I did 4 miles again. I don't know if this is putting too much strain on my body. I'm going to give it another week to see if I feel better and can get back on track. I really want to do this, but it can't come at the expense of my own body. The pain was so bad I tried going to the doctor to see if she could help and she didn't know what was causing the pain. My entire body aches, from my toes to my arms. I just feel like my body is breaking down. The doctor ordered some lab tests, but I can't get them done because I can't afford them. Even with my sliding scale they want $200. That's insane to think of for me.
Other than that, I'm feeling good. Geo and I went to his sister's yesterday and we went to the beach with her. The waves were intense! I was only able to stay in the water for a bit because I was using my legs too much to try and keep my balance. After that, I just lay in the sun for a bit. It was cloudy and I had put sunscreen on, so I didn't get tan or burned. After that, we went back to his sister's house and she cooked us a great dinner. I was super tired afterwards, so we went home. Geo hurt his ankle and got a huge blood blister on his toe, so he was super careful driving home. I couldn't believe it, but the car used 3 gallons of gas driving to his sister's and back. She does live far and we took roads for the most part, since there aren't a lot of freeways to get there.
I managed to volunteer 4 days last week. The job posting I wanted to get was gone, so I have to wait again for it to open up. They have a full time position open, but I can't do full time right now. I am learning to wake up in the morning instead of at noon. I've been waking up around 8:30 every day. I woke up at that time today, but went back to sleep. I slept until 2pm just because I could. I wanted to build up some sleep time since during the week I don't get as much sleep as I want. I have been sleeping really well lately, though. It only takes me about 10-20 minutes to fall asleep and I don't wake up a lot in the middle of the night. I don't know if it's the meds or what, but I'm sure happy about that. I've had sleeping problems as far back as I remember. But it helps, since I'm trying to get to work by 9ish. They like me coming in early, and I'm beginning to like it as well. I have more time at home to get stuff done and my walks. The gym is closed today, but I might go tomorrow and do a bit on the elliptical. I want to start exercising again, and I know that's good for the joints.

It is a shame you can not some how get the medical tests done! I hope you are feeling better soon.
The day at the beach and laying in the sun sound heavenly and very relaxing.
Welcome to world of being a car owner and dealing with the cost of gas! Today when I went to the store I saw as much as a 15c per gallon difference so the price hopefully is dropping a bit for awhile at least.

I hope you are able to do the marathon. I know you\'ve been looking forward to it for a long time.
How wonderful you have the car and got to the beach. It does sound so lovely. I hope you had a great time at the beach and with your sister-in - law\\
So happy to hear you are sleeping better. It\'s great that you feel good about that and are able to get into work earlier. Hurray 4 days at work . I am so happy for you.
Take care of yourself and don\'t over due. You are right about exercise helping the pain in the joints.
Have a great weekend.
