Had Some Fun
Went out with Uttra (my bff) yesterday for dessert and tea. We browsed our favorite stores.....Ikea (yeah...viva le Ikea!)..brainstormed for what to do with my balcony this year. She helps me decorate with different garden lights every year.. We live in a townhouse complex and I put up Christmas lights on my balcony each Dec. which she loves helping me with. A couple years ago I decided I wanted lights year round, so first year we played around with my mini-lights and kept my balcony lit all year till it was time for the Christmas ones again. Last year we put up these green leaf vine LED lights on my railing and the bars ( bought at IKEA) and it looked really cool in daylight and night. However the lights didn't last the whole summer. So. this year I need new lights and a new look. I have an image to uphold in the complex now. Plus Uttra has the most gorgeous garden little sanctuary that's all done in perennials and once it's cleaned up in the spring she's all set.......so she sets her sights on my place and then there's no stopping her. She's a little, teeny Fijian tornado of white energy and I've learned to not get in the way when she wants to help. Fortunately we are super compatible working together,... both artistic, both Sagittarius and both OCD with a need to line things up just so and make sure things are even, so we don't drive each other nuts. She is my angel. She comes to my rescue (she'd say I do the same for her). But mostly she feels like my sister.I'm so blessed.

:-) I love this entry! I don\'t have much time, so this is short... Try draping a sheer over the lights. I use them in my daughters\' window with a dimmer. During the day on full brightness, it\'s a great accent, mood lighting. At night on low, it\'s a great nightlight. From outside at night, it\'s a beautiful faint glow around the windows. Better yet, the lights themselves aren\'t directly visible, just the diffused, beautiful glow. Their lights are white with a light pink curtain.
You can also weave them into strands of silk vines for a natural effect.
Ok, not so quick. :-) My sis is well known for her lights. She even made some for my eldest when she was a baby. (I\'ll dig it out of storage and get you a pic.) She wraped triangles of wrapping paper around each light into a sort of half cone (not all the way around) and tied it off with a ribbon. There\'s so much variation of this simple idea.
these lights are actually outside on my balcony...so the sheers wouldn\'t work... but that might be an idea for my other living room window sometime...thanks....my balcony is off my living room and feels like an extension if I don\'t close the blinds completely, so I light it up and decorate it. Also my friend and neighbor across from me and I have a thing where we each turn on our mini-lights and put candles in our window sills as a sign of friendship for each other....kind of a way of saying we\'re here for each other when we don\'t have time to talk...makes us both feel we\'re not so alone (we\'re both long time single moms and have been in the complex a long time). I feel all warm and fuzzy just thinking about it. :)
That is so neat! What a cool symbol! Too bad the sheers won\'t work - it\'s a really great effect. Whatever you do, I\'m sure you and Uttra will have a blast decorating it. Keep us updated on your progress! It\'s really great that you have somebody in your life like her to depend on when you need support, and even when you don\'t.
