One of the slot dreams I had around the one year mark, was not such a bad dream but I woke up angry that I had gambled. It took being awake for an hour or so to fully realize it was a dream. It seemed like it still took me a day or so to get over it. My counselor talked about still having the occasional gambling dream even after 15 years of abstinence. She says it is your brain craving the dopamine and trying to manufacture it in your sleep. Another psychologist I know says that dreams are a way of processing information, feelings, sensations and part of the filing process. Some say the subconscious is telling us something. That often the things we remember about our dreams are the things with which we have unresolved issues and need to work on.
Thank heavens it was only a dream.
I know it can be disconcerting. I remember gambling long enough that when I tried to go to sleep, I could not because my brain was still showing me spinning reels when I closed my eyes. It's kind of amazing that I have not had a gambling dream for long time now. They at least get fewer and more time between them with more abstinence.
