Had an okay birthday

I had an okay birthday.   The friends I am living with took me to see the movie "Gravity"  Unfortunately I don't like doing things with them, but since it was my birthday and it was a gift I couldn't say no.   We stopped at Boston Market for dinner and then went to see the movie.    My friend's husband started to discuss something maudlin and then my friend, who is a bit of a hypochondriac,  talked about her left knee.  Last year she had her right knee replaced and she might need her left knee replaced.  But she hadn't complained about it all this time. Earlier this year she had back surgery for a disc.  Quick recovery.   On Thurs night was the first time I heard she had problems with her left knee and she had an appt on Fri to go see the orthopedic doctor she'd gone to for her other knee.    He gave her a cortizone shot and a script for an MRI just in case the shot didn't offer her any relief.   knowing her she'll be making the appt for that MRI even if she doesn't need it.    The doctor said she MIGHT have torn her meniscus but wasn't sure.     She told me all he did was give her the shot and the script.   Last night while walking to the theater she said to her husband he took an X Ray.    She never gets her facts straight.   All she likes to do is complain about every ache and pain.    She doesn't work and is lost in the Batman (original series ) fandom.   She has an IPad she gets lost on (or her computer)
I tried to ignore them the best I could.   I didn't need to hear this 'woe is me'  or maudlin talk on MY BIRTHDAY.    The movie was in 3D,  I'd never seen a movie in 3D before.  they decided to sit a few rows in front of the screen.  I've done that before in the past and I hated it.    So I told them I was going to move.   (her husband said the reason they sat there was so he didn't have to deal with others around him that talked.  they are so anti social)   So I moved.  I sat between two gentleman and had a great time.  I was very happy NOT to be sitting with them.    After the movie I went to stand by the row they were sitting in waiting for them to get out.  I noticed she had her head on his shoulder and he was petting her arm.   AW.   no I mean GAG.  Their marriage is a sham.   She manipulates him  basically it's she says JUMP and he says how high.
When we got home there were some gifts on the dining room table.  One thing I noticed was two of the gifts were labeled with my friend's name on it and their 13 year old daughters name on the other. I was confused, were these gifts from them?   Anyway we had cake and ice cream and after that I sat down and they gave me my gifts.     I opened up one and it was a stylus pen,  good for writing and working on tablets (I have a kindle fire)  My friend's husband, in order to keep the peace so there would not be any jealousy,  bought two stylus for them.  That was what was in those two packages.
They both have IPads and he had to placate his wife and the daughter by giving them stylus pens too.
I usually go to the movies alone and this will be the last time I do anything with them.  Last Sat I went on a meetup to WV for a fall foliage train ride.  I had so much fun with the people I was traveling with and the others we met up with at the train station.    I'd rather be with people like them than with the friends I've been living with for several years.   Sad but true.
I was thrilled with my gifts and with all the well wishes of friends.    I am just hoping that I will be able to take the steps necessary to get myself out of this unhappy living arrangement and can get a life of my own.
I'm glad I have a place to vent.  thanks
