Had a good Christmas

This is the 1st Christmas both Jeff and I have spent without our mothers... or any family for that matter. My mom and brother moved to OH and Jeff's side of the family all live in VA. We decided to stay here this holiday season for several reasons. 1. We just moved in in Nov. 2. We are still going through a short sale and still paying mortgage and now paying rent in addition (out of our savings). And the rent is very expensive! We just don't have another thousands of dollars to spend on a Christmas vacation to see relatives.
But we have kept busy between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our church has had several Thanksgiving dinners and several Christmas activities. Plus we have been invited to multiple Christmas parties here and there that we went to! It's been quite FUN!!
On the down side to all this, I have gained about 12 lbs! oops! Half my cloths don't fit anymore and the rest are very tight! After New Years, I will have to go on a diet! Mom called me on Christmas day and said she was feeling emotional.... she was weeping. She didn't have any money to buy presents for anyone so she made cards for everyone and wrote  poems in them. Apparently, she found the one she gave to my brother Sonnie torn up in the trash later. SHe said she was very hurt. But you know, he does this sort of thing every Christmas and Mother's Day. He find a reason to lash out. I told her she shouldn't expect anything less of him. She said I was right and she forgot he acts like that. I told mom next time don't write him a poem, just get him a box of ramen noodles. He won't throw noodles away. LOL.
Anyway, I hope everyone has had a blessed Christmas! And may you have a fantastic New Year!!

Warm and wonderful in Hawaii. I used to live in the Florida Keys. I never had depression there, nor did I DO Christmas...the weather doesn\'t seem to allow it:)

I love your mom\'s Christmas idea. I wish I had a mother that was thoughtful and kind like that!
