Guilty
Some times I feel guilty because I don't think about my son every minute of the day. I try to stay busy not only at work, but at home also so that I don't have to think about it. But when I do think about it, it drives me crazy. I think the feeling of being so helpless is the worst part of it. I can't fix everything. I can't even fix anything right now. He says he's fine and now the phone calls are further apart. I've told him not to worry about the cost, that's on me, but yet he still doesn't call like I wish he would. I never get on to him; I don't want that to be what our conversations are about. I write to him and let him know that we will get through all this and that things will get better. Maybe it's just his way of not getting his hopes up. I'm hoping that while he is in jail, he will realize who his real friends are as I don't think he has had contact with any of them since he's been there. He does construction work and his employer has already let him know that if they have work, he still has a job. Of course he won't have a license to drive, so that is something we will have to work out. I've thought about making him move in with me when he gets out, but I'm not sure that will be a good idea. I know I can't protect him if he doesn't want to be protected. I don't know what to think.
