Guess what? I'm not the center of the universe...Thank God!
I have recently noticed something about me. I tend to make everything about me when it comes to my famiy and friends. For excample, if someone is mad or in a bad mood, I automatically think its my fault. I end up taking it personally despite not having anything to do with it. A friend could have had a bad day and is venting in a loud obnoxious way and I will make it about me. I won't let them know that but I still feel its about me.
So I am slowly learning that my business is my business and no one's elses crap is mine. I didn't cause it, I can't control it, and I can't cure it. Thats my new moto.
I'm also learning not to mesh my life with anyone elses. For example, my partner and I have been dating for about a year now. I can have my privacy, likes and dislikes, friends and outings without feeling like I am responsible for someone else. I can say no and not feel guilty. She is more than welcome to join me but I will not feel guilty for going. She doesn't put limits on me. I'm the one doing this to myself. No one else is doing this to me. I am my own worse enemy. Funny how that works. But I am learning and thats important. And its really cool to see my growth taking place.
