Growing and Understanding
I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN I want to start this journal entry off with a question. It is this: Have you ever had one of those times where things seem to be changing at a rapid pace, not only in your own life, but also in the world around you? As I type, I want to share that this seems to be happening to me. Let me start off with saying that there seems to me that there is so much bad going on around the world, yet none of it seems to be touching me. The only exception is the death of my mother's cat and a church member which really was a sad moment. I feel especially bad for her family because they were very devoted. Right now, my emotions are kind of mixed. I get teary-eyed from time to time. Yes, I'm a man and even though I really don't cry much, the recent things that are happening are not just sad, but also great too. Here I am blabbing away, getting things off my heart, but I really want each of you to know that I love you. I have changed so much in such a short amount of time that I simply cannot find too many words to explain it. Take my missionary aspirations for example. As recently as six years ago, the country of Peru was not even on my radar, meaning I had no interest at that time. About the only thing I understood about that country way perhaps that the Andes ran through it, Machu Picchu was a major tourist area, and Lima was the capital city. Come 2009, I've been there twice and sponsor a child there. The Lord deserves all the credit. He has blessed me by allowing me to go down there and minister to children and work alongside the native population down there. Remember, six years ago, Peru was just another country on the map. Also, the Lord has been directing me in my understanding of Scripture. Could you believe that ten short years ago, I thought that Latin was one of the ORIGINAL LANGUAGES OF THE BIBLE! Now, the Lord has blessed me with meat to eat from Scripture and BOY did I get a good dose of that today!! The Holy Spirit has played a major influence in this understanding and I know it's all from the heart. So, as the world seems to get crazier and crazier, God seems to be saying to me, "Richard, just concentrate on the road ahead of you. Let me guide you and I'll take care of all the rest." That's exactly what I'm doing. Later this year I'm planning on getting together with some church elders and my senior pastor and tell them what the Lord has been laying on my heart for the last couple of years and that's to serve longer terms of service in Peru. That's where the Lord seems to be leading me and I've been praying about it almost everyday. So, if you can relate, let me know. I'm 35 years old and the Lord is clearly directing my path. I'm here to say to Him: "All this time I only allowed you the rest of me, now it's time for you to have the best of me. I'm here for you and where you want me is where I shall go."
