Great Day!!!!

Wow, it was Monday and I had a great day!  My husband ditched work and we got so many things done that I had been putting off.  The greatest of my adventures was that I went to the optometrist to have my eyes checked - it had been a few years that I needed to do that, I have needed glasses and I was terrified of going.  I felt very brave yesterday, I told my husband that I was ready to go to the optometrist and he was very supportive, I made him promise me that he would go in with me, but guess what, the doctor called my name and I told my husband I can do this alone - and I did - I went in by myself, I was scared, but I let the doctor know that I had a panic disorder and this was very hard for me to do, his response was - oh, don't worry about it there are so many people with phobias, and that made me feel at ease - I went through the whole 20 minute process without a panic attack - wow - what a feeling!!!!!!!  I am so happy that I made so much progress!  I am so grateful that I am doing better and I have my friends here on D.S. and my therapist to thank.  Keep those comments coming they really help me!  A few months ago I wouldn't leave my house and now I am!   I am going to add a new goal of getting out of the house without my safe person - I think I may be ready - if only to drive around the block, or go to the video store with my children, etc, I have to think baby steps!

AWESOME! That\'s great that you got your eyes checked. I need to do that too. I\'m glad your husband went with you and way to go in telling the dr you have panic... I think when we can share that we are nervous it helps cause it lets others help put us at ease! SO WAY TO GO! And great goal of driving around the block. You can do it! :) BIG HUGS
