great Christmas

Had a wonderful Christmas.  T-Man was a no show for our traditional Christmas Eve Mass we like to go to as a family.  He slept at his friend's again the night before and we didn't see him all day. Finally we get in touch with him (I called his friend's mom's cell) and he says that he's not going to church because it "doesn't do anything for me". Pardon me buddy - it isn't all about you!  Whatever.  It bothered me that he lead us on and then refused to go.  T then had the nerve to tell my hubby to buy him cigs.  On his own, without me getting on him for giving in, told T NO.  Hubby was upset that T chose to be gone all night and day, refuse church and then demand smokes. After hubby said no - T told him that he wasn't go with us to see family out of town the next day.  I told hubby not to worry - he'll come.  All his friends will be with their families and he wouldn't want to miss out on all the other presents. T not only ended up joining us for the traditional dinner we have with our dear friends but came with us on the trip.  It felt good for once to have my husband say no even though he didn't want any waves on the holiday.  I know he must have been the peace maker when he was a boy back in the days of his mom's drinking.  I guess you do what you've learned and it's hard to break. Glad he did - especially since nothing happened.
