Grandmother n law

My husbands grandmother is losing her ability to speak.  And she is getting harder to hear too!  I have enough trouble trying to figure out what she is tryingto tell me.  And now she has been talking so low I feel like my hearing is going everytime I go see her!  I am able to help her so well because she is able to tell me what she needs!  I don't know what I will do if I couldn't understand what she is saying!  All I keep thinking is how I hope I dont live so long as to have myself stuck in a nursing home waiting for the help I need by employees that shuffle along as if they don't have a care in the world!  I constanly see people in need of attention and no one noticing! And even when they do they take a snails pace to get to the person who needs them!  When an old woman asks for help to go to the restroom, do you think she can wait at your leisure?!!!!!!  I want to pee on her shoes! I want to fuss at her to move it or lose it!  I hold my tongue and think maybe they will end up with relying on lazy good for nothing people when they get old!  But probably not!  why do people take jobs they don't want to do, I ask myself!  And then I figure they don't have the brains for anything else!  It's so unfair to our senior citizens!  I have no patience for these lazy asses!  If Grandma wants her bed sheets changed I just do it!  I was told by the woman who was supposed to do it that she was going to do it soon and that I didn't have to do it!  Well I don't think a person should have to wait hours to be able to lay down on cleans sheets when she needs it!  It doesn't take 5 minutes to change a twin size bed!  And they don't even do it right!  I know if the job is done right , that it is a hard job to do!  This isn't the first person I have helped in a nursing home.  I wish they could have robots so this kind of work because they would show up on time and do the job right without stealing something from the defenseless person! I have to write her name on everything where you can see it so it wont get stolen!  IT's a rotten shame!  I waited too long to put her name on a new skirt that cost $48 maybe more, for it to be stolen!  I was afraid she would change her mind and want me to return it so I didn't put her name in it and now some no good sticky fingered slacker has it!   My only calming thought is the stickey fingered slacker will have to answer to the Almighty and I sure wish I could be there when she tries to lie to God! LOL! Which brings me to another thought! There are those who think they will be forgiven because they get all dressed up and go to church and maybe even give a little money too!  I know some people that thought my father was so great because he was at church every Sunday and gave a check to the church! YOU CANNOT pay for your SINS with money to a church or just showing up every Sunday!  LMAO!OK I feel a little better, pardon my venting!  :  )

I agree everyone who goes to church is NOT holy! I have know many who are total hippocrates. Better like me to believe in God and worship him in our own way than put on airs in church and then turn around and be something else when outside church. I am sure this is not true of everyone who goes to church but alot.
Is your husbands grandmother in a convelsent home? There are good ones and ones that well ....should be reported. I hope I never end up in one. I have long term insurance so I as I age will be able to stay in my home for as long as I can.
Good for you to vent that is what DS is for and your friends here are here to help if we can and always listen.

I agree, there are good people who go to church everyday. I just know many who put on a good show of it. Grandmother n law is in a nursing home after several small strokes. Her daughter\'s husband has diabetes and is going blind. She is quite demanding so no one else wants to take her in.
My husband\'s grandmother had total control over him because his mother prefered to go to work and leave the rest up to her mother. She wasn\'t very nice to him and he left home before he made 16yrs old. So he doesn\'t want her with us. Besides he thinks I will kill myself taking care of her here.

sad but true the aides were getting in now adays are unreal they dont give a crap about the residents they do what they want when they want and its sad they dont realize that one day soon there gonna be that way hope they get what they deserve and as for your inlaw ive found that body gestures tells you what they want after awhile you kinda pick up on it we have a couple that cant talk or studder real bad but after awhile with their gestures got to know what it is they wanted also writing it down helps or little code words i use this with one resident who has a hard time speaking like when she wants her window open she puts her hands together and raise one up alittle and back down and forv a bath is funny she pinches her nose and goes whew when its somebody else does or something does she does the same thing only points at it and goes whew we just need more caring people instead of just a paycheck
