Grandad
Tuesday the 14th June is the 17 yr anniversary of my grandads passing. He was an amazing man, always happy and would do anything for us grand kids, heaven couldnt have asked for a more caring angel. I found this poem in a book and instantly thought of him. It makes me feel better reading it knowing he is still here with me in the sun, rain, wind and all around.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the snow on the mountains rim,
I am the laughter in childrens eyes,
I am the sand at the waters edge,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle Autumn rain,
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight,
I am the star that shines at night,
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die. (unknown)
Since he died, part of me died with him. He was my hero and always made me smile when I wanted to cry.
I really hope that death isn't really the end, that his soul still lives on, stronger without the earthly shell. The thought of him always being around me makes me feel warm, knowing he will be waiting for the day I'll meet him again.
