GP APPT TODAY

Saw my GP today.   He diagnosed with me "gastritis".  He said it could be from the steroid or the DM.  Although he also admitted that in his years of practice, he doesnt remember ever having a patient with DM.   He said if it gets better after I get off the steroids then we will know that was the problem.  If not, we know its probably the DM. In the meantime, he told me to try Zantac or Pepcid.   He said if those dont work, there is a prescription we can try.   If the problem still persists, he will refer me to a GI doc.
My muscle biopsy is scheduled for this thursday at 2:00.  I went back and forth about having it quite a bit over the last couple of days.  Ultimately, I decided to have it.  There wont be a better time to do it and if it gives us any further information at all, it will be worth it.  If not, it will just suck for no reason but we wont know until we do it. :)  I know that if I dont do it, I will always wonder what it may have told us.  So...concious sedation...here I come!  :)

Ange. the one thing about these diseases is that in order to get better, we have to go through some of the carved out steps, ie. muscle biopsies, cancer screenings and a myraid of different meds, but guess what? It will all come together and you will return to the health you seek. Please realize that every test brings you closer to the wellness you seek. Blessings, Kim

Angie, sounds like good stuff. I hope your gastro problems resolve. Did you have them before your actual diagnosis? Trying to look back that may help you decide if it is the medicine or the disease. I definitely had them before meds. In fact the medicine seems to have made it somewhat better, perhaps less inflammation in my intestines? My GP has never had a patient with DM either, she \'saw\' one when she was in med school. So she is learning with me and she communicates with my rheumatologist so i am okay with it. Good luck with your biopsy tomorrow, I\'ll be thinking of you. Be sure to give us an update..... WE CARE!!!
