Got out for some fun!

Got to go out last night for some fun! Don't get to do that much - so appreciate it when I do.It was my annual bowling wrapup dinner. Even though I had to take time off this year from bowling, I went to the dinner to see all my friends and have fun. I just love them! They make me feel that they're so happy to see me. I went to bowling a couple of times for a visit during the year since I dropped it and same thing -- "hey, Deb, good to see you! how you doing?" Stuff like that. Can't believe I ever thought of dropping this completely. This group of people feels like family. We often say it's like that Cheers song - where everybody knows your name, etc. Some of us have been together 10-15 yrs. and Bonnie, Joanne and I have been on our team for 20+.Bonnie and I have been in that league for 28 years. I joined straight out of high school. My first adult league. And B, J and I have been friends longer than that, going back since we were about 14-15. Yikes! Well we had the usual fun evening. We rent a side room at a nice restaurant. We used to rent a hall with a DJ, caterers, etc. but our group is smaller now.We can get to be a bit loud but this restaurant has handled us for quite a few years and apparently likes us. We tip well and this year our waiters got right into everything, even buying 50-50 tickets from us! We laugh, drink, close the place down. Then we moved over to the local Army Navy for more drinks and if we're not too late music and dancing (we were too late last night). It's like a Legion and some of our group are members. Also an old friend of ours is president there and we usually see him. Chuck was there and he came and gave B,J and me big hugs and called us his girls. He taught me how to bowl when I started at 11, and coached all 3 of us in tournaments as we were growing up. It's really old-time night. Banquet night has been my big night out of the year for a long time now and last night did not disappoint.
