Got My Boat

I went down to my ex son-in-laws dad's house and got my boat that I loaned my son-in-law.  I thought it was about 6 years ago, turned out, it was 10.  He had left it set out and did not cover it.  The seats rotted off, his brother sat trash sacks of aluminum cans in it and the sacks deteriorated over the years.  it was full of leaves and debris.  I sacked up 3-1/2 large black trash bags of aluminum cans out of the boat.  I am going to recycle them and give the money to my grand-kids.
The oars were left in the boat and they were rotted too.  One tire on the trailer was still standing with air in it. The other tire was flat so, we changed the tire and wheel with the spares I brought with me.  We loaded it on my big trailer and I hauled it home.  I spent Mon. cleaning it out and hosing it out,  The boat itself seems ok.  It is fiberglass.  it needs a good waxing and buffing but, I believe it will be ok.  I still have a lot of work to do to it.  I have to check the lights and wiring on the trailer, see if I can find the title and the last registration I have so, I can get a state watercraft sticker for it.  I will also have to get new license for the trailer, a new marine battery, etc.,  He had the motor stored in a shed and I pulled the starter rope and it is free.  Hopefully it will run and perform, who knows.  If it doesn't, I can use my trolling motor to move it around on the lakes I plan to fish in.  It is only 15 ft. so no big deal.  It is just a shame he didn't take better care of it but, that's what happens when you loan something.  I guess if I don't get it ready to fish out of this year, I will cover it for the winter and use it next year.  At least, I will get it ready anyway.
