Got another call

Yesterday was good.  I was in a slump ~ but the events of the last couple of days has rejuvenated me and reminded me that there is a purpose and a need for doing what I do. In my heart I knew it but my head was working me.
The other day was the phone call from the mom who offered to do a lead at our parent drug program.  I talked to her for over an hour and it was great to find someone who shares my passion. Her focus right now is to educated the municipal court "people" (not sure if it includes judges) about opiate addiction.  She saw the need and "luck" would have it ~ a key speaker she wanted to participate could only do it on a certain day ~and it just happened that the date they wanted was suddenly open. It was booked but there was a last minute cancellation.  I love these "coincidences"~ that I call oooeeeoooeees!
Yesterday I met with the awesome counselors who will be running the program for the kids.  I have 3 and they liked the videos I showed them. It was a fantastic meeting. Prior to that the high school principal (where the meeting was held) came up to me and asked if I would be available to talk to mom who is struggling.  I really like this guy and I hope to get a meeting with him once the school year is out. I want to talk to him about trying a parent mandatory drug parent program. If the school loses their counselors (which is a possibility) and the other programs, along with a small police force ~ perhaps he might be open to it? Not holding my breath but I have to try.
Then still later on yesterday I receive a call from a PTA member from another school district (about a half hour away or so) and asked if we would present our program to their school.  She had heard such wonderful things about our program and since we are "free" that was an extra bonus.  I said we would but asked if they would please promote it heavily.  I don't want to put all my time and effort to present to a handful of people. She said she'd try.

Before you know it, you\'ll be on national TV--watch out, girl!
We just got kicked out of the high school where we were bringing AlaTeen meetings today--the ass\'t principal informed me they had neither the manpower nor facilities for us. No drug counselors, etc., and I said I felt bad for the kids who had been coming to the meetings, and that we\'d check back toward fall to see if anything had changed. It had been obvious that things were falling short this year, so we weren\'t surprised.
Going into the watery blues I chose for the bedroom and very excited about it. Getting toward the majority of it being over, and then redecorating begins this weekend. The orange is settling down, and the brown is showing more thru the orange to mellow it out. The downstairs powder room is getting a face lift too, with new vanity and mirror and lighting, and then painting after that. Nothing too expensive, but I am tired of the old dowdy stuff that\'s in there including plastic drawers to hold BandAids, etc. So I got a guy on it.
Just like with you, I am sure something else will crop up for service work, so after my disappointment thismorning, I perked up. I will miss the kids.
