Goodbye My dear Aunt Gladys

This last monday I found out my favorite aunt, more like my 2nd mom is dieing. Her legs had swollen to as my mom said the size of an elephants legs. They put compression socks on her and the leg swelling went down. Well the fluid had to go somewhere and it filled her lungs and encased her heart. So she has congestive heart failure, lungs full of fluid, horrible restless leg syndrome and 2 broken vertabrae in her back from a fall last week. Later tuesday afternoon while her daughter was taking her dad home to rest as he also is not in good health she got a call from the doctor and was given 3 choices as to what to do as they can not heal her, she is too far gone. The choices were take her off of everything, oxygen, food through iv etc except the pain medication, the 2nd was to remove the nutrition and then slowly turn down her oxygen, and the third was leave her as she is and put her in the nursing home until she dies naturally. She chose the first option as my aunt has survived ovarian cancer, her tumor was the size of a cantaloupe and been cancer free now 9 years. She also has survived her lungs being full of blood clots about 4 years ago. She suffers from restless legs really badly and they have never been able to find the right med or enough of the right med to calm that down so she has been in a lot of pain with those for years. She is a wonderful lady who is now tired and ready to go home. I pray that God who is so good takes her quickly and while the family is not there to witness the last breath. Sending her love and peace and looking forward to have another angel to watch over me. I Love You Aunt Glad and will always!

Prayers your Aunt Gladys will feel your love surrounding her as she makes the journey home to God. Also praying for you that you will feel her love for you surrounding you as you face another painful parting. I'm glad her wishes are being respected. Hugs to you all. Elissa

Thank you Elissa this wonderful woman is one tough cookie. She was supposed to pass today by 10 am. Tomorrow she is being transferred to a nursing home for hospice. The amount of meds they are pumping into is enough to kill an elephant. But that side of my family are fighters, knowing her somehow she may just make it through this. I talked to her daughter tonight and she has been in her parents apartment and her mom has left all sorts of things, memories she had of her daughter all over the apartment. It is actually amazing what is going on. I will be able to see her tomorrow afternoon. Thank you for the prayers and yes I do feel her love. Hugs and Love Susie

Hoping that your time with your aunt is what it needs to be for the two of you. She certainly has been living with a lot of issues and I know everyone wants her to be as comfortable as possible. That is when those hospice angels work their magic.

Gentle care dear Susie and keep us posted. She sounds like a very dear and special women in your life.

(((Hugs))) of care,
XO Joanie

I was not able to go and see her today and I will be at my sons now until Sunday. I had a great talk with her daughter (my cousin) last night and was able to help her start the grieving process because she is trying to be strong and is stuffing all of her emotions. I actually was able to get her to cry a bit which for her is huge. This could be a long arduous process yet as the medicines she is getting are very strong and she is allowed to eat whatever she wants. If they do not get her meds in time she is screaming in and I do mean screaming in horrible pain begging God to take her right now and once the meds take effect she is lucid and actually making everyone around her laugh. I just pray that God would call her sooner rather than later for everyone involved sakes.
Thanks Joanie she is a wonderful woman full of love and compassion for everyone. I will truly miss her but I can not stand seeing her go through all of this as she has suffered so much throughout the years she does not deserve anymore. She needs peace she deserves peace and I pray it comes very soon for her.
Hugs and Love

Here is an update. My aunt is now in hospice. They have her a some very heavy duty narcotics to keep her comfortable and a light stream of oxygen so she is not gasping so hard for air. I saw her a few days ago and other then being weak she is looking great. We know this is just a waiting period as God is not quite ready to call her home yet but it is inevitable. She is more than ready to go to her heavenly home it is now the waiting that is so hard to handle. Please keep her and the whole family in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you and Blesings to each of you
Susie
